Simraceway
Hi all.
If you haven't heard about this then why not!?!?!?
http://www.simraceway.com/
Looks to be a VERY realistic race sim for PC, as detailed and supported as iRacing but without the monthly charge.
Latest news is the addition of ALL 60 cars ever created by McLaren following a tie in with the team.
The late Dan Wheldon was a supporter of the game and was providing technical feedback along with Dario Franchiti. Also the Jim Russell school has signed up to work with the team too. Looks like sim racing is FINALLY getting taken more seriously.
First Macca to b revealed is the MP4-12C

Re: Simraceway
"SimRaceWay Online will be a free-to-play racing title powered by Image Space Incorporated’s gMotor 2 engine. The title will put an emphasis on online racing, using a real-time skill matching system to offer close racing.
Furthermore, the game will be using laser-scanned tracks, making it the first free-to-play title to offer such high quality content. Aside from signing license agreements with several manufacturers and tracks, the company has also secured the services of Indycar champion Dario Franchitti to ensure a healthy dose of realism in the title."
Think we might want to get excited about this

Re: Simraceway
For those not checking the linky. Here's the most important bits for you all.
Requirements:
Windows XP/Vista/7
1.4 GHz processor CPU
512 MB RAM
128 MB video RAM
Geforce4 4200 or Radeon 9200
DirectX 9.0c
4.0 GB of hard drive space for installation
Internet connection required for online racing
Cost:
Simraceway is a free, multiplayer online racing game. It is free to download and play. We offer high-fidelity, licensed cars available for purchase. These cars are yours to drive and enjoy and allow you to enter racing events. We also offer prize-based Championship events with pooled cash entries that allow you to win cash and prizes
Race Types
Hot Lap:
One car on one track in a perpetual Open Qualifying type session. Other drivers will be present but you're racing against the clock, and your fastest time will appear on the leaderboard.
Challenge:
Featuring a series of tracks instead of Hot Lap's singular event, Challenge is an always-open continuous series of races. When one session is over, it moves directly into the next session with a different track.
Practice:
An open racing server so you can work on your technique, learn the track, and get a feel for the car with other people around. Your lap times are not added to the leaderboard, but your laps are counted toward your Simraceway total miles raced.
Warm-up:
Your chance to prepare for a race and fine tune your strategy. Lap times are not added to the leaderboard, but your laps are counted toward your Simraceway total miles raced.
Qualifying:
Lasting between 30 minutes and 2 hours, Qualifying is a pre-race event to determine the starting order for an upcoming race. The best qualifying times start the race at the top of the order.
Paid Events:
Paid Events are events where you can win prizes. The entry fee encourages competition and provides higher prize payouts.
Rookie Events:
Same as a Hot Lap competition, but designed for new members to work on their skills in a less competitive environment.

Re: Simraceway
enjoying it so far. As there are quite a few bits of the ISI model in the game, the UI will seem really familiar and comfortable.
Been messing around with the Evo around Mid Ohio and I remember why I love that track so much
The car is really forgiving when using the keyboard, but you can get some nice slides going which was alot of fun. I can see this being a really good wheel game.
Graphically, well, it's only a beta but the details are all there, the circuits look good and there's grass which looks as good as the Forza 4 stuff we're enjoying now.
Haven't tried an online race yet, but will do in the near future. Ok so it's not Forza but I can see it developing into a really complete game as tracks and cars are added in. With laser scanned tracks it ought t also be the most accurate racer out there aside from the subscription based i Racing.
Need to see what the final build looks like. But its a promsing start

Re: Simraceway
I might have a go on this later, I have an iPod app I can use to control the car rather than a keyboard, so I can compare with rFactor

Re: Simraceway
The one I use is called ''MungoGamer''. Have a little search?
I searched for ''Game Controller'' on the Apple App Store and there were quite a few apps there which were to control PC games through a WiFi connection, so have a look around, there may be a different one on android if MungoGamer isn't available!

Re: Simraceway
If you were a little dubious about the SRW wheel, then check this out.
If you have a G25 that you want to have a funkier wheel on you can convert it to mount the wireless SRW-S1

Re: Simraceway
Yeah, I saw a few of them.
Begs the question as to why you would buy both a G25 and an SRW-S1 and mount them both together when the whole point of the SRW-S1 was to make it cheap and save space buy not having a wheel set up

Re: Simraceway
I believe there is a mounted wheel in the pipeline. But This was just an option for those people who fancied setting something up already.
Re: Simraceway
Loads of new cars in the game these days, PLUS the announcement of an official Indycar game with the DW12

Re: Simraceway
looks good but £, will they realase a pack with all the cars etc for cost of normal game etc
Re: Simraceway
Duncan, bear in mind the game is FREE, the tracks are FREE and you ony buy what cars you want which are largely pence.
Read the blog but as far as I believe the DW12 will be in the current SRW game, with Indycar coming out either as a separate game or a patch. Just don't know yet.
