2011 TORA Poll: Real Race Car of the Year

Its that time of year again!
Vote for your favourites and the winner will be announced on the TORA Review of 2011 Podcast in early December.

That's a tought one, Audi R18 due to an incredible Le Mans win and the safety of the car with the 2 massive Le Mans shunts. Peugeot 908 dominated Sportscar racing this year with the works cars winning everything apart from Sebring and Le Mans. RB7's walked the F1 season this year by a country mile the class of the field. Civic BTCC i wouldn't have chosen that to be in the poll i think the Cruze WTCC would have been a better choice. 458 GT2 great debut year for the car unlucky at Le Mans with altenator problems and was always up there in the ILMC and ALMS. Lola B10/60 raced well for best of the rest in the ILMC just loosing out to the Pescarolo and done well to beat the Lola Aston Martin in the ALMS!

I'd have to say the Audi R18, simply on the grounds that it is one amazingly safe piece of kit.

Who was it racing against?! SERIOUSLY!? Backmarkers, thats all it did.

Audi R18, Backmarkers, Hitting into Backmarkers, And fending off Anthony Davidson, thats THREE times better!

I'm actually missing the BMW Alpina B6 GT3 in this poll. And the Maserati Quattroporte from the V8 Supercars.

The R18 won Le Mans, but then got destroyed in the ILMC, whereas the 908 dominated the ILMC but lost Le Mans, so both of those are out. The Lola was not impressive, neither was the 458 GT2. I don't watch BTCC so I can't comment on the Civic, but I know that the RB7 showed a level of dominance against better competition than any of the rest of the cars.

That said, it should not be Racecar of the year either. That title should go to the RLL BMW M3 GT2. It blew away its competition in the most competitive field in motorsport. Being able to win GTE in ALMS in the manner that it did is a lot more impressive than what any of the other cars did.
