Re: TORA MSA GT24 Round 5 - Silverstone - 11/12/11 - 8pm GMT
great racing up front! thanks again magictap for, i guess i could say, indirectly helping me with my tune. i hit a 1:54.973 in Qually, which i was pleased with. then within the first handful of laps, with magictap behind me, i managed a 1:54.77x. Coming into the pits, i was 3rd, coming out, i lost a spot to Trooper, then F4H Bullet. my pit crew will be getting scolded in a minute. but in the final laps, i was chasing ATR DAN and Trooper down @ the end, and managed a 1:54.59x on the 2nd to last lap.

Genuinely enjoyed that.
Thanks for the epc race Chad! Thing is though, this whole 25 bonus point is an idea that works on paper, but in reality, not so much. Otherwise, I'm definetly coming back for 2012!

Re: TORA MSA GT24 Round 5 - Silverstone - 11/12/11 - 8pm GMT
That race went much better than I was anticipating. To finish only seven seconds behind the winner, I'm really thrilled with that.
I had a great battle with Shane (TrooperR6) in that race and it was nice to beat you for once mate.
Even though our car has been far from the best this season, it's just been a stellar season all round for me. 3rd place overall and our second teams title in two days. Not a bad way to end 2011 for ATR. Many thanks to my team mates Matt and Conner for their contribution to this superb result for the team.
I could be wrong but I think this is actually Matt's first ever teams title? We won in the 2009 GT's but he wasn't in the same team as myself.
Many congrats to Shane for clinching the drivers title.

Re: TORA MSA GT24 Round 5 - Silverstone - 11/12/11 - 8pm GMT
I enjoyed our race - close with Gundam in first couple of laps but he got away pretty quick, then made mistake on lap 12(?) and Franchitti got in front of me, followed each other in pits then he pulled away. Left with me and shat3r3d, he was gaining on me but to no avail.
Managed to pull a 1:56.8xx on the last couple of laps, fastest time all week, and thanks again to Magic!
Also 25 point prize to swap cars in middle of season? That cost Dan the title.

Yes it was a test season, so the aim was to have people test all the cars on the list.
This is a gap filling season before we really start on forza 4 in January.
So there was no title for Dan to win or lose, just valuable information for the staff on balancing the cars (and a lot of fun!!!)

I'm not gonna moan over that one to be honest. I can understand why the staff introduced this proposal.
Besides, I do have the consolation of myself, Matt and Conner clinching the teams championship. WAHOOO!

Morgan sucks in corners. From understeer to oversteer in almost every corner.
I think there should be a new group for lighter cars like the Morgan, Z4, Lotus and 370Z (possibly others) with lower weight and less horsepower.
I see that the results and standings is already updated. Choosed the Morgan this race, so I get 25 points for that.

I'd say a major NO to the Rossion just because of how much downforce it has when you put the adjustable aero on haha

Really enjoyed the race today, made some passes and tough close racing. Was hoping to catch Magictap and get my 3rd win this season, but made some mistakes and Magictap seemed to get in a groove. Really enjoyed it.

Great Racing last night had a great Battle with chris and Koenigsegg, glad thats was the last drive in the R8 roll on Storm power for 2012
Re: TORA MSA GT24 Round 5 - Silverstone - 11/12/11 - 8pm GMT
Great comeback race for me in these last night. Car felt really good but couldnt get 54s like my team mate. Had fun battling with all the guys but the fight with Gundam was crazy! we were side by side through Club twice! Passed him into the 2nd last turn on the last lap after he went wide slightly.
The Ferrari was very good at tracks such as Silverstone and the Hock but everywhere esle it couldnt match the other cars. Work to be done!

Exactly what I wanted Chaddy, different cars at the top of the field for each race as much as possible. Looking at the results, each race had a different car win each one.
I'm happy

Re: TORA MSA GT24 Round 5 - Silverstone - 11/12/11 - 8pm GMT
I still blame my pit crew for loosing me 2 spots. Clearly had a car for the podium. Oh well. Roll on Season 8 come the new year! I have the replay and wanted to upload it onto my SF last night, but somehow its wasn't be allowed. So, I got it if anyone wants it

If your car doesn't have good acceleration, then you can easily lose time in the pit.

I'm wondering if there's going to be a two-tier championship in the GT24 next year - with growing numbers I can see a bigger divide in racers. Would give the rest of us a nice chance!

That's not a bad idea, Blancpain Enduro style with the Gold, Silver and Bronze ratings, these could be applied to teams and drivers to give more drivers a chance of winning races and championships!

Re: TORA MSA GT24 Round 5 - Silverstone - 11/12/11 - 8pm GMT
I can imagine the top tier having no privateers, just teams - would make it very exciting for the team championships, whether you have 8 teams of 2 or 5 teams of 3. Top outfits leading a flagship TORA formula.
In the second tier you would see mostly privateers with a few teams lurking about. I suppose winners of the 'second division' could get snapped up by the bigger teams and cause crazy shockwaves in the top tier.
I don't know, I think there's room for potential and I like the idea of Gold/Silver/Bronze.

Re: TORA MSA GT24 Round 5 - Silverstone - 11/12/11 - 8pm GMT
What we find hard with that sort of system is that we don't want to be rude. Some people probably understand that they are not as fast as the quick guys (like me), but when we tell them that they are in division two and they think they should be in division one then it becomes difficult.
We have been having this discussion for awhile regarding Pro and Am in the GT class of the ISCC, and then when people are proven to be capable of running in a higher division it becomes hard to mount up their poitns correctly depending on their class.
It's easier for us to run with one big field and people to find their battles and rivals through the racing. I think when you see the likes of the 'teams' such as F4H, VVV and GLR and you are racing amongst them then you know you are at the top of the field and fighting for the championship.
Privateer racing will always be a different kettle of fish, and that championship is usually fought between the slower guys who don't have big team backing or such to tune and paint their cars up to the higher class. It is great, and the privateers usually find a way into a more well established team later in the year.

Plus throw in qualifying and multiple lobbies, it creates seperate tiers of racing just from this. Then with the added bonus of late entries and faster racers ballsing up quali ending up in lower lobbies.
