Strange sounds over the world?
Browsing youtube and took a look into trending videos. Found this one which seems a little odd.
I then searched the interwebs about it which has a few news stories about it. Seems like people are thinking its not a hoax as there are so many of these videos popping up on youtube. Check em out, theres loads. But then again the internet is a very powerful thing and there could be a huge prank going on.
Anyway, I've not heard anything.

Seems like a viral marketing campaign to me. Most of the sounds seem pretty generic by a sci-fi standpoint, and if you look at the channels uploading, most have few videos or are fairly new.
Re: Strange sounds over the world?
A possible realistic theory behind it if you believe the videos to be real.

Re: Strange sounds over the world?
Uh... okay.
I don't know what to think of this. I heard a few nights ago a strange noise that continued for a while. I live quite near an airport, and a plant which builds jet engines. I am used to hearing droning noises as the plant often tests completed engines during the night, but you're not really aware of them because they are always there and you are used to them.
The noise I heard was different, to the point that I noticed it and listened for it. It was like thunder, deeper than the engines, and came and went in fits. I actually thought it was thunder for a while. It continued for most of an hour, and I put it down as airport noise. But it was similar to that in the Glasgow clip.
I am going to continue thinking it was airport noise, as I don't want to get sucked in by what appears to be a hoax.

Re: Strange sounds over the world?
You're not near Berwick are you?
One of the alleged capturings of this stuff was there.
Most of it seems to be East coast USA (unsuprisingly) lol
One of the explanations going around the net is the US HAARP experiements. If in doubt, blame the USA

Re: Strange sounds over the world?
Nope, Berwick is almost directly the other side of the country, about a hundred and thirty miles away.
What is HAARP?

http://www.haarp.alaska.edu/haarp/gen.html
HAARP is a scientific endeavor aimed at studying the properties and behavior of the ionosphere, with particular emphasis on being able to understand and use it to enhance communications and surveillance systems for both civilian and defense purposes
What people may be hearing is IRI or The Ionospheric Research Instrument, a high power transmitter facility operating in the High Frequency (HF) range. The IRI will be used to temporarily excite a limited area of the ionosphere for scientific study.
It's no secret that the US military is heading up this research and scaremongers/conspiracy theorists reckon that HAARP is some kind of futuristic weapon. They even go as far as to suggest that it is responsible for the Japanese tsunami! lol

Re: Strange sounds over the world?
That video Simon posted at the top does have some pretty subtle ones in it, but the Hungary one is far too loud and extreme for it to have not been made far more aware in main stream news.
That Telegraph video looks ridiculously fake.

I haven't heard anything and neither has anyone I know. XTI Apache lives in Canada near one of the supposed "hotspots" and hasn't noticed anything either. I also live literally next to an airport and am under military airways so I'm used to many different sounds so If I heard the pseudo-dubstep/transformer sounds in those videos I would certainly notice. Which is the other thing, the videos just sound too much like movie sfx. So again, calling a viral marketing campaign on this one.

It's all a load of bollocks. Conspiracies are for morons.

Re: Strange sounds over the world?
Also noticed something else with the videos, any sort of text on a transition screen is all the same, and they all seem to be put together with the same movie editing software
Re: Strange sounds over the world?
I'm going to stick my speakers out of the window and put my USB keyboard through Reason 4 and play really strange bassy sounds, that should wind the constip- conspiracy theorists up .

The world is smaller than people say it is. You just fly around in circles to make you THINK you've flown further!
