National Motorsport Week & TORA Empty National Motorsport Week & TORA

Post by CQR Rogue Sat 16 Jun 2012 - 12:12

National Motorsport Week is a week-long celebration of UK motor sport, designed to draw public attention to all areas of the sport and ultimately inspire more people to get involved as competitors, volunteers and spectators.

The Motor Sports Association teamed up with the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) to breathe new life into the initiative in 2010, when it was moved from its traditional August date to early summer.
Every UK-based Formula 1 and World Rally Championship team got involved, throwing their doors open to the public for exclusive factory tours and other activities. Meanwhile MSA-registered clubs across the country took the sport to the public through car displays and novice taster events, and venues offered special ticket deals.

National Motorsport Week – running from 30 June to 8 July 2012 – is a special celebration of UK motor sport jointly promoted by the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) and the Motor Sports Association (MSA)

I was thinking, you know how Le mans is run tonight, then in a week or two they run Le mans classics? (330P4, GT40, Shelby Daytona, Ferrari 250TR etc.) well I was wondering if that would be an option in the future? I've done a lil bit of testing, and will have full results soon, but so far we have two classes, dunno what to call them though, one consisting of 330P4, GT40, Shelby Daytona and the other having the 250 TR, 300s, DBR1 and 250 GTO (maybe have GTO in separate class and have a power handicap to suit the others) it'd be an expensive race, but have it like a 3 hr race of Le mans Sarthe not mulsanne or what ever is period correct, just a thought

Richy, I'd like to see something American for the 4th of July, as that happens to be a National holiday on this side of the pond.

Classic Trans Am? 1967-73 "Pony Cars" perhaps in B Class? Mustang/Firebird/Cuda/Javelin/Camaro

Good idea Mikey, I'll see if I can dig up Louis old TransAm series rules and regs. (Just found them and they are from 2010, so different game Razz) I will have a look at getting new cars made up. Any preference on old muscle cars, or adding another class of modern ones as well?

For Friday I am thinking of making more random/fun series, like Transit Racing, F class cars, Togue/Time attack up and down Fujimi Kaido etc etc

Random/fun/F Class???

How about something along the lines of the ChumpCar/LeMons races? There are many cars that are at or can be downgraded to 100 PI, as well as several underused tiny twisty tracks to race such slugs at.

We did a Hotlap Challenge with the 100 PI cars at LaSarthe... wnd while it took forever to get down Mulsanne, going through the chicanes, Porsche curves and Indianapolis full throttle was epic.

LeMons, that's what we can do as a part of the Friday night.

Maybe cars that cost less than x amount of credits, and is under a certain PI. That's why I was thinking just the mini cars in the game, Beetle, Smart, Twingo etc etc

^ It's Friday Night, meaning the start of the weekend, right? How about something at 8PM BST, something else at 9:30PM or 10, and something else at 11PM or midnight?

That way, a whole night of crap cars, V8s and Transit vans for the night cap. One night, three races. Sounds like a win-win-win to me Very Happy
