Vodafone British Gamers GT Season 9 BMW M3 Unveiling
Vodafone British Gamers are proud to announce their entry into Season 9 of the MSA TORA GT Championship, and will be using the BMW M3 GT2.
The Vodafone sponsorship deal with BG was announced a short time ago in TORA’s Touring Car Championship, and came about in a bitter contractual dispute with Vodafone’s previous sponsored team, Phenomenal Racers. It was claimed by Vodafone that Phenomenal Racers' chief, NickyF1, tweeted that the red and white Vodafone logo was a slant at all things Scottish and demanded that they be changed to blue and white. Vodafone deemed this a break of contract and immediately dissolved their relationship with Phenomenal Racers and started talks with BG’s CEO Hainesy and secretary Beanz, resulting in a multi-year deal to provide funds to compete at the top, with the main focus being an entry into the GT series.
BMW came on board a while ago, with the BG contract team securing factory team status where it is written into the contract that any new parts developed will remain exclusive to Vodafone BG for three races minimum. F4H NFS Racing and a1x Racing, the other teams using the BMW M3 GT2 in TORA’s GT Series this season, are said to be furious with this news and are seeking legal advice. BG’s in-house lawyers are confident that the contract is watertight.
The car: The BMW M3 GT2.
Of course, BG didn’t just throw a roll cage in an M3 and call it a day. The cars both get a complete wide-body aero kit that’s been computer modelled and wind tunnel-tested to be both extremely functional and awesome looking. Running a fine-toothed comb through the engine reduced friction and pumping losses to free-up horsepower and reduce the cooling load.
The Drivers
Team leader, Mr Reliable. Probably, along with Smithy, the cleanest of the BG Team. The fact that driving clean has cost him places in the TCC will not change his stance on his driving etiquette.
Has the potential to be right up there with the front runners but is blighted by his girlfriend not allowing him to attend practice sessions. On his day the fastest of the BG Team, probably down to his streamlined head. If he’s behind you, expect to be passed at the next available turn and because he’s “gangsta” he’ll flip you the bird once he’s past.
One to watch out for in GT, a fast racer who has been very unlucky in TCC with other racers taking him out which has cost him a whole heap of points. RWD BMW M3 should suit his style far better than the under steering Nissan Sentra.
Has come on leaps and bounds in recent times, was always fast but prone to errors resulting in crashes. Now has the control to race cleanly and get the car to the end of the race in one piece. The big question mark (apart from suffering with nerves during qualifying) is how he and his brother Beanz, bitter rivals from an early age, cope with being in the same team.
There is due to be a team photoshoot at an undisclosed location at some point during the week, and we hope to provide with some of the shots we get at a later date.

This made me burst out laughing, and the resulting strain from this made me squeeze out a rather loud burp of the bottom!
This is fantastic. I love the driver intros and the "bitter dispute" about Vodafone
Cheers Richy, you gotta love a bit of "drama"
Great job on the intro, but i have to make one point clear:
Our a1x Legal team has found some indiscretion's in the deal that has been made by VODAFONE BRITISH GAMERS and BMW.
We are currently looking at our options but are confident that Team a1x Racing will be reciving the BMW factory parts at the same time as VODAFONE BRITISH GAMERS.
Good luck to you all this season.
