I can't speak for other people, but you know, if it was organised (and i'm sure it would be judging from other TORA happenings) i'd be more than happy to pay towards an even like this, put names to faces, generally chat rubbish with people.

Weekends of these sorts are some of the best and definitely something you don't forget!

I like the overall idea, even if I play xbox so I dont have to actually meet people in RL pirat

If there is to be an entry fee to the event to cover the costs of this, as I expect will be needed, I would suggest that teams that are unable to go to the actual location (mainland European teams, US teams etc) do not have to pay, otherwise the event starts to become too region specific.

what about University media studies. Would they not teach TV engineers and have loads of equipment. Maybe we can also help with education and give them a platform to Televise /stream the TORA Le Mans next year? Leaving our chaps to take part and commentate and choose camera angles whilst all the tech is sorted and looked after but forming part of an education?

Dunno if they teach this, just brain dumping.

There are some things that should be thought about too, for those that are not able/do no want to drive, the location needs to be accessible via public transpor, somewhere with a large train hub nearby (such as new street) would make this much easier.
Would be good to have some shops nearby so that food and stuff could be bught as and whenIt would also be better if people got there on the friday so thatwe coyld set up and niggle out any problems that pop up.
Just a few thoughts.

why dont you use main cities as hubs?

i.e. in east of engalnd use Norwich,

the get together is an awesome idea tho Very Happy

it would be a real good experience....

one thing to add to the list of things to look out for sponsors for would maybe hotels. because some people may be travelling further than others and after doing a 24hr race may wanna just go and crash out.
maybe someone like premier inn or travelodge may be able to do something for us.

How about GamerBase which have these locations:

London: 8 XBOX 360s, all of which are connected to XBOX Live
Manchester: 28 XBOX 360 consoles, all of which are connected to XBOX Live
Glasgow: 20 XBOX 360, all of which are connected to XBOX Live
Edinburgh: 23 XBOX 360, all of which are connected to XBOX Live

I'd suggest finding the most central spot for everyone.

I'm sure if we asked nicely they'd let us go overnight. Get some charities, companies and moneys involved and they'd be fine.

I've opened communication with Xtreme Gaming about this. They can cater for the guys who use wheels, its got good train links from London/everywhere and seem to be very open to discussing a weekend event.

I will let you guys know more as we sort out the details.
