Game Streaming and Capture
Yo fellas,
Thought I'd do a quick dump of stuff I use or want to use to stream and capture. BUT, if you are gonna stream, make sure your broadband UPLOAD speed can handle it. I have 3Mb upload and mainly stream at 500kbs (half a Mb) which leaves me the 2 plus a bit for flux that Xbox Live requires.
Capture:
So my work laptop is an old duel core intel and couldn't cope with capturing Forza at 60fps in HD so i needed another way. I use the AverMedia GameCapture HD which does not require a computer to capture my xbox screen, and I can still play in HD.
Streaming:
Hardware
I use the Kworld Gaming Maker G220 at the same time or independently of the Avermedia capture box. I can still play in HD and this plugs into my laptop via USB.
I also have on pre order but not sure it will ever turn up a Blitzcast Blitzbox GamePro 1080 which will enable me to add in the voice element of our online races.
Software
All free for a base level and usually have mobile, web and desktop versions to stream. Most won't connect direct to devices like a dazzle but you can screen grab with most and use something like AM Cap to display the device on your computer then screen grab. Here are some I use:
Ustream.com
Bambuser.com
Twitch.TV
Justin.TV
Livestream.com
own3d.tv
But I mainly use the free software xsplit which does connect direct to my Kworld device and can also simultaneously stream to all the above sites.
My set up is:
Xbox 360 via HD component cable into AverMedia then out to Kworld via HD component cable, then out to TV via HD component cable.

Re: Game Streaming and Capture
Is there any way to do this so the camera car is not sitting in the lobby and not starting? When a car in the lobby doesn't start it locks up the multi-screen users side xboxes.

Re: Game Streaming and Capture
If the camera car joins the lobby after the race start, it will cause a lag spike. Since they have no idea at what point after the host starts the race they would be returning to/entering the lobby, that could happen at a really inconveniant moment.....like turn 1 lap 1!!
Re: Game Streaming and Capture
The question was to magictap if there was any other way to do it.

Re: Game Streaming and Capture
No, I don't think there is if we want to have a car that can capture race footage rather then just a single in car footage. Don't worry mikem, we won't be doing any live streaming of our main series like the GTs or ISCC becaus eof this issue, however we will still be doing the live stream of the big endurance events so hopefully we can work it so if you are there then you won't be in the camera lobby or something.
Re: Game Streaming and Capture
Thanks for the consideration. I undertsand how important the streaming is and think that it's very cool. I quess I'm the only one that has multi-screen. Spent 2 weeks practicing and tuning for that Le Mans race only to have these problems come race time. Good thing to come out of it, I now know the track better than I ever have and am much faster there now.

Re: Game Streaming and Capture
If there is a spectator in the game (i.e. the camera car) then his two side screens don't work and all he gets is the middle one.
Re: Game Streaming and Capture
How about if the Camera car joins the lobby and readys up, at the start of the race pull over out the way then leave the race. That keeping them in the lobby and then can spectate. Will miss the first minute or so but wont affect any multi screen users

Re: Game Streaming and Capture
I really don't know, I think maybe if the spectator joins the lobby after the race has started it may work.
Re: Game Streaming and Capture
But that could cause lag so if starts the race will already be in the lobby

Re: Game Streaming and Capture
Yeah but if you start the race and quit back out to the lobby you can't spectate. You have to then quit out completely and come back in.
Re: Game Streaming and Capture
And to make matters worse, I only drive from the in car view so when all I can use is the center screen I only seeing 1/3 of the view. Not that big of an issue since I may be the only one. Just that there might be another way. This (and others) is a new bug introduced in FM4 that wasn't in FM3.

Re: Game Streaming and Capture
How about this: the host sends a message to the camera car person that the race is about to start, the camera car joins the race lobby during the pace lap in case of a lag spike.

If you quit from a race, once you get back in the lobby you don't have the option to spectate, you'd have to leave the lobby and rejoin, potentially causing lag spikes.

I thought the same thing, and potentially it could work.
Re: Game Streaming and Capture
Would the spectator car have enough time to join lobby and load the game to spectate before the first parade lap had finished? As I would think the lag spike its not so much just lag but sync issues to as they take about 3-5 seconds pre race. Just a thought

Re: Game Streaming and Capture
Parade lap takes about 1:30 so if lobby host can invite cam car into game then by time join game and spectate should get in

Re: Game Streaming and Capture
It is risky though, as the car could arrive just as the pack hit turn 1 on the first flying lap!!!
Re: Game Streaming and Capture
I've never experienced lag when someone has joined a race mid session. Just sayin.
Happened a lot in the 24, and alot in other seried I've ran in.

This needs trying, if it works, then when a race is to be live streamed and there is a pace lap, just all sit on the grid until the lobby host has sorted out the camera car invite and entry into specator mode, then go from there under the host instructions
