engine failure stops hot run
after a great qualifying and getting a first ever TORA podium for Gecko Racing last week at Motegi, Gecko Racing driver GRT 458Italia was hoping to replicate or imrprove these fantastic results.
Hockenheimrig: 10 pm GMT, 3/11/12
brisk evening, sun setting and the cars forming at the pit lane for the qualifying session.
with the excitment for the up coming race everyone was eager to get out on the track with many drivers claiming they could reach the 58 second mark, and others, including myself, low 59s. everyone at the Gecko Racing garage were looking forward to a good quialifying session, but that was not to be. with 4 of the 5 laps dirtied, and only managing a 1 minute lap, although that 1 minute still produced a 3 placed grid position for the start, it was not the result that was hoping to be achieved.
Race start: as the cars piled around on their formation lap, everyone was looking forward to a good race and a close race. as the cars rolled towards the line and then took off, thats where Gecko Racing's race went down hill. it started with him losing 3rd position before the line, bad start, the first and secon laps were a bit of a mess, losing grip and sliding around corners and losing time to the lead pack, then, on only the 3rd lap of the 45 minute race, coming down the straight between 1 and 2, engine failure stuck the Dunlop Nissan GTR and put an end to the race for Gecko Racing.
Gecko Racing and all in the team are hoping for a better run next weekend at Tsukuba and all attention goes towards building the fastest and most reliable car for the event
