Ashley Sutton Racing (CQR Champion)
CQR's very own karting and racing star Ash Sutton (CQR Champion) is taking part in The Mirela Fund kart race this evening, with many current GP2/GP3 drivers, including Alice Powell and Sky Sports F1 pundits Martin Brundle and Anthony Davidson.
"Just to mention a few f1 teams coming, Mclaren, Red Bull, Mercedes, Lotus, Force India and also GP3 and GP2 teams and drivers and many presenters as well - we have Team BBC, and 3 teams from Sky F1 presenters including Johny Herbert, Natalie Pinkham, Martin Brundle, Anthony Davidson and lots more! We're expecting many other famous race drivers will be turning up to support this great event, including recently crowned F2 champion Luciano Bachetta, who has just come back from his Williams F1 test!
The event will be filmed by Sky F1 for a feature on their show and it is also being filmed by Channel 5 for a documentary. OK magazine will also be present, taking photos for a forthcoming feature in their magazine."
Also, Ash will be on Sky Sports 4 at 6.30pm this evening, with coverage of the recent 2012 London Cup Karting race.

Good luck man... I had to choose between college and racing cars as my kart career was ending. I chose college, but always wished I had at least given formula pacific a run to see how I could do. I grew to be like 6'4" and always thought "if I wasn't so much bigger than these runts I'm racing karts with, I would win instead of finishing on the podium." Oh well, I'll never know... I wish I'd have realized that there was plenty of time to "be a grown up" and followed my dream of making a living driving racecars. I wish you luck with the step up to cars man, I'm sure you will do great.
Anyway, congrats on getting a test in a Formula ford! They sure have changed since I was looking at getting a drive in one. They drive like really sluggish heavy karts would from my recollection, but the principals of being quick are exactly the same (except you can't break the back end of a car loose to get around a corner a bit better by trowing your weight to one side).

This is my first time out on Slicks in a single seater car, Track is still in the drying process with damp patchs about. Wish i had the last session film as i manged to knock off a few seconds!

Meridian Motorsport confirm 3 drivers for 2014 including our very own CQR Champion! Race 1 is on March 30th at Brands Hatch. Let us know if you can make it, as a good number of us will be there to cheer him on!
If you can't make it to the races - they will be televised on ITV4 as part of the support package for the BTCC!!
