TORA V8 Meeting 3 - Silverstone GP (27th Nov)

QUALIFYING

-Qualifying will consist of 4 flying laps (lap counter will be set to 6 laps)
-Collisions will be forced off
-Damage will be set to Limited damage
-There will be a 5 second roll off delay
-The Grid will be set to Random
-Once you complete all 4 flying laps you will meet in the first corner so that the lobby marshals can take down your qualifying time and conduct scrutineering if required.
-Times will then be uploaded to the Live Timing application by the chief marshal of the meeting
-Clean laps take preference over Dirty laps. A slower clean lap will qualify in front of a faster Dirty lap.

Races

Grid will be the results of the qualifying session. All drivers with "clean" laps in qualifying will be before all drivers who set "dirty" laps. Races will take pace over a pre-determined amount of laps.

There will be two races in an evening, the 1st will last 15-20mins and the 2nd will be 10 laps longer with a pitstop.

Race One will form up on the grid in the order in which the competitors qualified.
Race Two will form up on the grid in the reverse order in which the competitors finished Race One.


Both races will start from a standing start.

Settings
- Collisions during all races will be on, and set with Limited Damage. Driving Line and Normal/Simulation Steering are the only allowed driving aids that may be used. ABS, STM, Auto-brake and Auto-gears are prohibited. Manual gears must be used but it is up to the competitor if they wish to use the clutch or not. Racers have the choice of using TCS.
- The race will be set to a per-determined amount of laps which the lobby host will make aware to the competitors in the lobby.

Race Etiquette
-Touring Car racing is defined as non-contact but a certain level of door rubbing and panel bashing is inevitable. With Limited damage on please take care when racing with each other so you do not ruin other people's races as well as your own. If you are found to be causing incidents that were avoidable then action will be taken by the stewards.

PLOW run wide, in. Holden

That was some cracking racing there, me and Run Wide were glued together pretty much the whole race, including side by side around the first corner!

More pissed at WHY I missed than about missing this. drove 60 miles to look at a signjob. Had I actually done work I would accept it... but she wants it done NEXT Tuesday

Great racing tonight,first race i could,nt find any consistency and kept making small mistakes think i managed one sub 52 tbh it felt as if my brakes wernt working, the second race was better i had a pretty clean track was able to find some consistency and had a bit of luck in the running and a nice little battle with Franchitti fan.

I qualified using the wrong tune so that put me a bit on the back foot going into the first race although I would have struggled to get much higher in qualifying.


First race I had Mourne Identity pressuring me early and he stayed close as I worked myself into a rhythm with the correct tune now on the car. He seemed to fall away in the second half of the race (what happened?) as I closed the gap on IRT Eagle Eye but was too late in catching up to him by the end of the race. 6th and a place up from qualifying after PLOW Run Wide dropped out seemed like a good, solid result.


Second race was better and worse in equal measures. Got a good start and made a place up when someone ahead of me had some difficulty through the first corner. Got a good run and snuck up the inside of IRT Eagle Eye through Stowe however this left me on the outside for Vale. At Vale, IRT Wozza came up the inside of his teammate and 3 wide doesn't end well - there was no contact but it gave me a horrible exit and line through Club allowing not only Wozza but BG Beanz and PLOW Tubbi to all get through.

Having to react to a bit of cautious braking from Tubbi and a good exit out of Club for PLOW Run Wide had him up my inside into Abbey. I gave him space through the left but he came straight across the front of my car through the right, almost as if he expect the car that was on his outside to have disappeared, causing me to brake to avoid contact, damage and a ruined race for the both of us.

A late pit stop strategy helped me to work my way back up the order past Mourne and Eagle for a solid, if unspectacular, 6th place again.

hello Defconluke i left you loads of room on the outside expecting you to be beside me on the exit but you was not there. i can not just keep the right analog stick pinned to the right/left to see where people are going round a corner i seen you in the mirror behind the car as i went past apologies if you feel this is unsportsmanlike racing

Unsporting? Nah, not at all mate.
With how long these cars are and the short distance between the 2 apexes, expecting the car on the outside to have disappeared and not be going for the second apex is something you would normally see from someone just starting to race.

Because I use chase cam I sometimes forget that if you're using another camera view, visibility can be a lot worse.

Over taking round the outside, side by side through impossible corners, quicker laptimes than qualifying, this series has got it all, very impressed with the respect shown by drivers last night, is a real shame the aero has such a detrimental affect on the cars, one tap in the wrong place and your race is done, but maybe that's why such respect is being shown.
Thoroughly enjoyed last night, V8's at their finest, well done everyone, let's make the final round the best yet.

I'll admit I was struggling to be consistent with this car, although with tcs off it ain't no picnic.

I had a missed call during race 1 and after the race I checked and it was my manager calling asking for me to come in (my day off) cause someone call in sick. Really would have liked to race in the 2nd one. Im scheaduled off next tuesday so I should be there again. See ya'll next week and good racing with Tubbi and Beanz.
