iGr Champion On The Track!
Hi guys,
Just fort i would do this as some people dont know what i get up to at the weekends and why some times i miss the Brit GT races. I started karting hwne i was 6. I wasn't aloud to race as i you can only get your licence atthe age of 8. This gave me 2 years to learn some of the tracks and get your to the engines and the kart. I won my first Trophy at the age of 6 at a No MSA Race (you can race under the age of 8 I finished 2nd.
2004: I finish 3rd in the Cadet class ages 8-12
2005: Finsihed 6th in a championship (learning Year).
2006: I finish 3rd in My first British Championship.
2007: I won The British Championship called Super1 and the other British championship called Stars Of Tomorrow. I won the British Open Round. (0'Plate). I could of won the Grand Prix but my brakes failed.
2008: I have been taken out in all the races i have done in the British Champion so we have dropped outa that championship. But i am still Winning The Stars Of Tomorrow. I went out for the World Finals Qualifiers, i started 3rd for the final. I got took out by 2 Spainish people went back to 15th, got back to 8th then my throttle cable got stuck on and i ended up having to drive the kart of the track to save accidents. Overall i still got though to the World Finals in France. Hopfully i have got the motor for the world finals as at the qualifiers i was losing 4-5 tenths in a straight line and then catching it all back up though the corners. I was only 1 tenth of the person who won it so i would of been the fastest if we had the motor.

If anyone else wants to get into real life racing like Matt and NGS Champion, then you should read this about one of things that racing drivers need to do:

Or check out the 'Go Motorsport' website
And for excercise see (Rated 18) and eating whatever crap gets put infront of me.
Generally I get my excecise through my job. Its physically demanding but I try to do sit ups and weights when I remember to.
Depending on the type of motorsport I think you need to focus on differing aspects of training. I tend to go for upper body and general tummy toning. I don't do much running coz quite frankly its embarrassing when I do.
Diet is.... whatever comes my way. I won't go for this lentils and tasteless rubbish I like my pasta too much and steak. Anything protein and carbs.. aslong as I am goig to use it up not long after.
I try not to couch potato too much but still. I don't believe you have to be MEGA MEGA fit to race but to succeed at the highest levels then yeah you REALLY do, and what Ben says on Pistonheads is of course perfectly right. Though if I see him anytime and I happen to even beat him I will have to laugh in his face...."powered by burgers mate!" I shall say!

One Motor Sport, where you have to be in really top shape to race in my view is F1.Jenson09 wrote:Or check out the 'Go Motorsport' website

Re: iGr Champion On The Track!
every thinks you dont need to be top shape for like Karting and something like Brit GT.
Think again. I have found out from experience from racing in europe were it is really hot and grippy, you need to a good stomach tone and very very strong upper body.
I got to the gym saturday(when not racing) for 2 hours.
but though the week i have my own fitness plan doing pull-ups, sit-ups, press-ups.
I agree jenson it is embassing but these thigns need to be done you see.
I forgot to add this. When i won the British Championship i satdown with lewis and spoke about wat it was like for him and he said fittness is the most important thing in any motorsport. So that is coming from the man himself!

Re: iGr Champion On The Track!
Is that at the Autosport Awards???
And I certainlyagree you have to be fit but you look at some of the older guys that do soe racing, I mean it seems to me you can be in your 50's with a bit of a gut and still do wel in some disciplines
I never presumed I'd get to do single seaters.. too tall and too old. So as my heart os set on GT's or touring cars, I'll be ok even as a 'gentleman driver'.
I ain't the quickest in the world but I sure as hell aint the slowest!
