Livery Rules
2013 Brand New Rule Across all series
All Paints and Livery's must be submitted to CQR Aero for TORA Media Spotter Guides prior to a Entrant be confirmed in a series, failure to do so will result in application of thus series becoming void.
Livery's must have no tobacco or adult related products & must not be deemed to be offensive.
TORA GT World Championship (http://forums.theonlineracingassociation.com/f265-forum)
TORA ISCC (TBA)
TORA TCC TBA)
TORA Le Endurance Championship (endurance championship) (TBA)
TORA TASCAR (TBA)
TORA Support Series (http://forums.theonlineracingassociation.com/f188-community-series-and-events)
Why?
I understand the ban on tobacco, and offensive content is also very understandable.
But the whole "must be submitted" thing takes it a bit far. If I read this correctly, once I enter a series and submit the livery, I am stuck with it the entire series. As a race car graphics technician by trade, I like to change my livery every few races. I'll be watching a race, get a brainstorm, and suddenly the paint on my car just isn't good enough for me anymore.
If this were the real world, perhaps labor and materials may prevent this, but even in NASCAR wrap technology allows a team to change the entire livery, including all sponsors, on a week to week basis.
I'm not intending to offend anyone, or start anything with my inquiry, and I am not sure that Aero will be so gung ho about implementation and enforcement of this rule come midseason.

By doing this if you look at the spotters guide its nearly finished.
Which if we look back at Lemans 24hour it wasnt by race day and its just saving loads of time getting everything together.
Instead of having 2-3 paints to do an evening Aero is having to do 40 odd so its time saving in the long run.

Re: Livery Rules
If you do change your design during the season, you can still race but only if you send that new design to CQR Aero for the spotters guides.
We are branching out to some real life championships now and we have to up to be very strict with presentation.

Re: Livery Rules
Rule is staying in place you will be allowed to change your paints but this is simply to build a spotters guide and to carry out paint checks
Re: Livery Rules
Once the guide is up and running, I'm not too concerned if you change your paint. You can send me the change and I'll update your guide pic if you so choose (it would help the TORA TV commentators identify your car at the very least!), but my main goal is (a) to eliminate the raft of blanks we had in S9, and setting a deadline with a "harsh" rule should (b) mean that it gets done before the season starts, so I can concentrate on practicing for my own race, instead of chasing/fretting, and then turning up to race completely unprepared as per last season, which I think is completely unfair on me, considering how much graft I put in to this!
It's quite a simple rule, and if you decide not to follow it then I'm sorry in advance.

It's not. It's based on the entry thread as always.

Gung ho?? It was my idea to put the rule in, and I've never been "gung ho" about anything in my life. I considered the rule carefully and submitted the idea to the staff, citing my reasons (see above) before it was implemented, and I don't think it's an "unreasonable" request. The paint is done, so what's so difficult about gifting it, or putting it on your storefront for me to use?
Re: Livery Rules
question, you know the thirsty camel commodore in the V8 ute series?
would that be allowed? sorry if i've missed something

Yes that'd be fine. Alcohol products are permitted (the reference to "adult products" is more aimed at the xxx variety!), and Thirsty Camel is just a shop chain (off license) so perfectly fine.
Re: Livery Rules
Is it tobacco?
I think the rule is first and foremost just a way of getting the people who actually want to race to commit to it. You can freely change your design throughout the season, there is no rule against that.
As Chris said, we want to know who is actually committed to racing before the season starts, and not just signing up because 'it seems popular' and in doing so we have a good idea of what numbers to expect before the first race.
You are not under any obligation to send Chris a new paint every race if you so chose to make one, but if you want your car to be featured in it's most up to date form on the Spotters Guide - which are becoming important for us - then you may send him the updated paints as they become available.

But does that reflect on the Community Events, too? I mean, is Aero actually going to do spotters guides for those?

That's what I thought, too, but the OP had the quote of:

That's also probably where Mikey J got confused, seeing as he's running the Spec Miatas and all

Re: Livery Rules
Right, gotcha.
The MSA TORA series require paints for the spotters guide, and that bit was just for livery rules, like no tobacco etc.
Hope this clears it up

Re: Livery Rules
Alright, yeah it does. Seeing as TORA does have a lot of community series that don't get mass-recognition, I was thinking a spotters' guide requirement was a bit much.
All's well
