Can a disabled member use abs
Alright chaps and race organisers
I have a friend that has signed up and he struggles to drive a car with abs off due to a accident he had a while back (not my place to say about accident) now he's been testing the cars and stuff but he is really struggling to the car on track at corners and keeps locking his brakes due to his problem with his hand,
Now I know some people may moan but I thought I'd ask as I know you guys want us all to have fun, he's only doing low 38s high 37s in his car he's driving so it's not like he's stupidly fast, but with abs on he's managing to do mid 37s which would be a bit of help to him and easier for him to enjoy him self, let me know what you guys think please
Regards
ash

Lower the brake pressure - it should help to reduce the amount of lock ups.

Re: Can a disabled member use abs
He's brake pressures already low and he's tried modding his pad to help there's only so much you can do in theory to try and stop locking brakes

Re: Can a disabled member use abs
I think it should be passed. As having a disabled father in the past, I am aware of how frustrating things can become which we take for granted. If people object to something like this then shame on them. Regardless of the disabilities it is a fair question to ask. TORA (IMHO) is such a fair community which is why myself and other race here. Hope this gets the answer it deserves.
Not to mention with his times I will have the honour of racing with him .

Re: Can a disabled member use abs
I would say late everybody choose for themselves.
ABS on or off.
TCS on or off.
Race line on or off.
Everything cam view gearing everything.
In that way, everyone will be able to race.
There's my opinion.....

TCS you could leave off as in these cars it doesn't make an awful lot of difference, just gotta be slightly careful on throttle but ABS would be good to allow.
Run the risk of alienating a lot of people with banning certain aids.

Re: Can a disabled member use abs
There is no reason why this should be a problem for TORA staff to allow. As everyone knows the final few tenths are found without it but giving people the option allows more people to enjoy the championships organised.

I'm sure the staff will make the right choice.

Re: Can a disabled member use abs
Here is my take:
His lock up w/o ABS could adversely affect other racers, so if he can avoid lock ups via ABS it should be allowed. In my experiences, I gained much time everywhere as soon as I turned off ABS, so it seems to be less of a help than a hindrance for most people to use it, so I see no reason not to allow it.

Re: Can a disabled member use abs
Yeah we have no issue with him using it, we'll just have to adjust the lobby to allow it to be switched on. However, if anybody else if found to be using it then there will be repercussions.
Re: Can a disabled member use abs
Yeah I totally support this. I kinda sorta feel his pain, since I had an accident about a year ago... haven't totally healed yet but even when I have it's pretty much a sure thing that I won't have the ability to lift my left foot. For example to shift a dirt bike. My Harley has a heel toe shifter at least, but in any case, motorcycles or even a stick shift, I'll likely have to have some sort of special shoe or something. Not sure yet.
But yeah, I have no problem with this.

Further to this any members that need to use ABS due to reasons stated above in the opening OP please let staff know

Just out of interest,
Which assists are forced off in the lobbies? Couldn't see whether it had changed from the last time I raced.
