Live timing training

Hi everybody,

As the events are picking up in numbers and takes some time now to get all the times in from Q and the results from the races it would be a great step to get you race marshals to input your own lobby information.

This won't happen overnight and you will be trained up before hand.

Which race marshals have access to pc/laptop during the events?

I do and would be up for it as long as its a: not too complicated (spreadheets are my weak link in regards to pc's) and b; the training doesnt involve running

Only have to run once a day lol. Nope the part you will have will be easy and you wont be let off the run by yourself until you are confident about doing it and we are happy what you can do it

I've got access to a laptop just don't use it during racing, I have got a PC next to me running all the time so can get that ready. I use spreadsheets all the time for work so happy and confident to enter times in any format you need.

No laptop for me, and my PC is at the opposite end of the house from the gameroom.

I have a PC in the same room as my xbox. Always switch it on before/after Quali/races.

Cool I am glad this is getting a good response I will go in order of interest so first up will be hainesy, if we could meet up online one day this week to show you the basics then on Sunday we can trail you out. Could do more then one at a time but don't want to mess up the system so want to take time with it

Have my laptop with me during qually. Like to check live timing as sooon as possible.

Can I be put on the training program too?

List of trainees so far

I will go down the list unless someone is unable to do it at the week they are due then I will skip them and go to the next person, Each person will get a midweek lesson and trail run on a mock system. Then will be put onto the main Live Timing Doc for the next TORA event they are able to attend and will be checked that they have done it all correct and check everything. Then after the event will have a talk to see how you got on and answer any other questions you may have. This will sign off your first part, after a few events you will be signed off completely. Each week a new member will be shown how to do Live Timing, I could get you all there this weekend but it will just get messy and don't want to cause upset anywhere so it is best to take things slowly in this.

Dunno we can try, I know on one I saw recently you would have to click into the space then type what you wanted then click submit then when you click the next one the page will move up from where it just loaded and would have to look for it again but it might be better now, I know the google drive app on iPhone is a lot better now

Good idea Chucky. I think this is probably the process that takes up the most time (updating Live Timing), so training would be excellent. We know we will definitely have approved Race Marshals as qualifying hosts, so live timing should be done and dusted within a maximum of 5 minutes after the last lobby has finished qualifying.

In terms of race results it helps to have Race Marshals as hosts as that can be updated asap - for the rest, I guess it's the same old system of reading results out to Aero... tiring much? when you have to hear 5 lobbies etc etc. especially when we have loads of them! Maybe have another designated Race Marshal that can take results down?

My Ipad would be useless for entering into spreadsheets...

PC primed and ready to roll after being shown the sheets, I need to remember to take my work laptop home instead of using the home PC, that way I don't have to move from by Game seat being a lazy fat bar steward and all...

The google drive app on the iphone is shockling good really, I will check tonight if it has an app for the ipad. but best way is PC/Laptop

What's a PC?

Google Drive app for Android is equally awesome (looks lovely on my wife's new Nexus 10!!!).
