Re: Amerikanishe Tourenwagen Meisterschaft??
why? why? why?
if it was true dtm (old) then yes but not f3 with aero

Re: Amerikanishe Tourenwagen Meisterschaft??
I think it's brilliant, something like a modern Trans-Am series would be EPIC!
Re: Amerikanishe Tourenwagen Meisterschaft??
In a nation that road racing is seemingly unprofitable for sanctioning body and competitor alike, and where fans prefer a bit of contact... why start yet another road race series, and use the most fragile aero-dependent cars on the planet?
Now if they went with the old school production based TA formula...

Greg Pickett and Tommy Drissi brought back Trans Am four years ago. At portland they had more cars than spectators: 6

What does this even mean?
This has been on the cards for a few years, seems like it will happen... eventually. But this was to be part of that DTM expansion to Japan and the USA as part of the new rules that was discussed in 2010.

Re: Amerikanishe Tourenwagen Meisterschaft??
Yeah, I got that.
But F3 cars already have aero? And even then, a DTM car performs nothing like an F3 car..
Nevermind..

Re: Amerikanishe Tourenwagen Meisterschaft??
ya, it would be the new DTM rules that the NGTC applied to the GT500 class. So a GT500 car can compete in DTM and vice versa. It would be super awesome to see GM, Ford and Chrysler get involved
Re: Amerikanishe Tourenwagen Meisterschaft??
we need a sprint series tho. The only main racing we have now is NASCAR and endurance racing.
IRL is bummy and even that isn't "Sprint"

Re: Amerikanishe Tourenwagen Meisterschaft??
I'd prefer US V8 Supercars. Similar to NASCAR, just a bit less dumbed down. On road/street courses. 3x sprint races over the weekend. And in a perfect world, "pony cars" rather than sedans: Mustang/Camaro/Challenger... and if GM wants to switch out the Chevy for a Cadillac CTS-V Coupe, fine.

If Pontiac was still around, they could of used the GTO. Oh how I miss that manufacturer.

I am quite looking forward to the Izod Indycar Series this year.
Also, this may not be mainstream but there is a Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) http://www.touringcar.ca/. I am kind of surprised I have not heard about this sooner. However, it is all on the wrong side of the country for me as the closest race is over 3,000km away.

TBH I don't care if its DTMish or V8ish, as I love them both equally, but V8's would be easier to get off the ground, as it probably costs less. I too would rather see Mustang/Camaro/Challenger rather than Fusion/Charger/SS, but I think they'd rather do the latter, as they (except for the SS) sell more of those than the former.

I have heard about the CTCC, but only by chance when I was founding the MMTCC lol. Otherwise I had no idea it existed too.
EDIT: I didn't know Viper driver, Kumo Wittmer had brothers! lol Nick and Karl Wittmer are both drivers in CTCC lol
Re: Amerikanishe Tourenwagen Meisterschaft??
I still don't understand why. We need more cars in the series we already have, not another series to further splinter the existing pool of teams and drivers. And, just like P1, there aren't that many North Americans with the sort of spending money it takes to run cars that expensive.
Re: Amerikanishe Tourenwagen Meisterschaft??
It will be something different from USCR obviously.
I for one am sooo excited for this

Re: Amerikanishe Tourenwagen Meisterschaft??
Currently talking about it on Midweek Motorsport at RadioLeMans.com, It's a great Idea however it's not very cost effective compared to all of the competitions that currently go on in the States.

Re: Amerikanishe Tourenwagen Meisterschaft??
I think it's exciting to see new series come to North America. Honestly I find American tracks the most exciting to watch races on(excluding a few from Europe of course)
Really hope they get their shiz right for this series, it could be sweeet.
