Hello and advice request!

I've read through the getting started and rules, etc. This is an awesome group and very organized. The whole thing seems a little daunting really as there is so much going on. I'd like some advice for a new driver trying to get some experience. Is there a class or series that is a little more forgiving for a rookie?

Expectations - I'd like to compete in the LeMans series. I plan to practice and work up to a competitive level through the slower ranks.

I have a question. I read through all the New Member info (rule book, etc) and I see a lot of discussion about lag, connection settings and whatnot. Is there a tutorial or information on this? I looked around for a Tech section but cannot seem to find one, or even a place to post "technical" questions. I have a good internet connection but I surely want to be doing all I can to avoid lag!

Hi Kerry, welcome aboard.

There is a thread 'somewhere' regarding the connection issue etc.

Easiest way is to make sure you have an OPEN NAT. you can do this in the 'NETWORK SETTINGS' in the dashboard. You can also google for a detailed tutorial on how to do this ETC.

Hello and welcome to TORA

There are some US friendly series going on, the North American Touring Car Championships on Tuesday Nights, the GT300 Spec Series is coming down to its last race this Friday, and DTM starts next Saturday. The first Friday of April the V8 Supercar Spec Series starts up.

The nice thing about the Spec Series is that the cars are in untuned/non upgraded form, which makes them a good place to see where your driving skills stack up in equal cars.

We did have a connection guide but we had to remove it after the original author asked for it to be removed - even although we had previously been given permission. We have a new one kicking about somewhere, soon we should have that in an easy to reach place for easy reference.

Flyin Mikey J, I think I will start out with the V8 Supercar Spec Series. It's fine advice and will give me time to practice!
