TORA Soccer/football League
just for something different, i will be holding a TORA soccer tournament over 6-8 weeks with finals afterwards.
how it works: you have 4 people per team: goalie in a Hummer H1, two wogers/strikers in lotus exige's and a center in a Dodge Challenger. all cars are stock with no tuning. the numbering goes 1: center, 2 & 3 winger/strikers and 5 for goalie.
there will be a ref, in a 2010 Nissan GT-R (numbered 0), who will hand out penalties such as penalty shoots and free kicks for offenses such as deliberate chargring and spinning out an opponent going for the ball.
just like the real football, stats will be taken (goals each player scores only) and a prize will be given at the end of the home/away season for the most goals. each team must come up with their own team name, and outfit which is (obviously) painted onto the car with number on roof and sides.
each game goes for 10 minutes.
a ladder will be produced for the season with colums including games played, wins, losses, draws, points for, points agains, and season points (4 points a win, 2 points a draw, 0 points a loss). so people aren't tied on possition (say you and one other team wins 6/8 games) a points for percentage will be put into place where the points for, will be divided by points against and multiplied by 100 to get the percentage.
at the end of the home and away season, top 75% (depending on no. teams entered) will go into finals, with (say 12 enter, 8 will go into finals).
how finals will work:
working with 8 teams in finals it will go (end of home and away table/ladder standings)
Rnd 1 (Elimination and quater finals): game 1: 1vs4, game 2: 2vs3 (both quater finals), game 3: 5vs8, game 4: 6vs7 (both elimination finals)- the losers from games 1vs4 and 2vs3 will continue in the finals charge and be given a second chance, the losers from the 5vs8 and 6vs7 games will be knocked out of the finals competition.
Rnd 2 (Semi Finals): loser of game 1 plays winner of game 3 (game 5), loser game 2 plays winner game 4 (game 6), winner of game 1 and 2 advance to preliminary finals and do not play this round. losers are out of sompetition
Rnd 3 (Preliminary finals): winner game 1 plays winner game 6 (game 7), winner game 2 plays winner game 5 (game . losers out of competition
Rnd 4 (Grand Final): winner of game 7 plays winner of game 8 in Grand Final. Premiers of TORA Soccer League 2013 announced with prize being given to best on ground (Louis Satterlee medal) and premiership cup being presented to team captain.
hope this gains some interest as i thought it'd be something different to the racing that happens at TORA most of the time, so thought it might intrest people with the change, and i've put a lot of work into it,
cheers guys, happy easter

Re: TORA Soccer/football League
I'm not to sure if you should do penalty kicks. With only ten minutes per game, I think it would take to much time. I would definitely be interested in this, though.

Re: TORA Soccer/football League
Interesting. Two opinions:
1. As for the cars, be warned of the Exiges. Small cars with low noses tend to pop the ball up and are useless for dribbling.
b. As for the numbering, Might I recommend a more traditional system? Keeper as #1, midfielder would be #7, and the strikers would be #9 and #10.
Anyways, I think I know who I'll be contacting about this...

Re: TORA Soccer/football League
Can this be played on the "soccer" mode, or will we have to use another method?

Re: TORA Soccer/football League
i once built up a few of the "Mini Compact" class cars (Ford Ka, VW Fox, Toyota Aygo, etc.) to low A-class, and they are VERY nimble for their size for something like this. They're not too overpowered, and all roughly 1700-1800 lbs if i recall; haven't used them in quite a while..
