I did this too, It involved quite some hassel as i needed to drill holes in my house to get the cable upstairs, but yeah, My wireless adaptor lags a lot, so I hard wire for TORA Races

On the note of wired an wireless a tip that has worked in past for me and a few others is change your DNS on xbox to google. Primary 8.8.8.8, Secondary 8.8.4.4 cuts out the router so can decrease ping slightly.
