Lunchie's Speed Shop: A family thing Empty Lunchie's Speed Shop: A family thing

For the past two years, Lunchie's Speed Shop has been growing in both pace and experience. Founded by brothers Iain and Chris Alderson (Lunchbox PUNX and TweekPunx respectively), the Oxford based team initially took part in the Swansea Metropolitan University Touring Car Championship (SMUTCC); a championship set up by motorsport students to test their skills on the virtual tracks of Forza.

Armed first with their Red Bull/Jagermeister BMW 135i (nicknamed 'the Jagerbomb'), success came fast to the Alderson brothers. On their debut at Road Atlanta; little brother Iain (aka 'Lunchie') took first, and older brother Chris finished third. After making their mark, they scored a handful more wins but at the halfway mark in their debut SMUTCC season, things began to unravel. Iain had to sit out the second half of the season due to outside commitments, and the rulemakers declared the 135i would be outlawed at the end of the season.

One man down and soon to be without a car, LSS went through a rough patch. Chris scored four wins in his debut season, but was also involved in some clumsy incidents; Iain announced he would return the following season, but by the final race he had dropped to 8th in the drivers chamionship with Chris finishing up 4th. The team came 3rd overall; not bad considering it was their debut season and it had been a one car entry half the time. Next season looked good.

Swapping the BMW for the hugely powerful Lexus IS350 and now with Rockstar sponsorship; their first 'proper' season set the stage for a Lexus white wash. Lunchie's Speed Shop dominated both the drivers and teams championships. With four pole positions, ten wins and five one-two finishes; the team easily took the SMUTCC teams chamionship and Iain swept away all before him in the drivers championship with Chris not far behind in 3rd.

The defense of their titles turned out to be a mixed affair. LSS entered two McLaren MP4-12C GT3's for Iain and Chris in the newly formed SMUGT championship and retained the IS350 for SMUTCC; both outfits now decked out in Brakspear colours.

By now their rivals at Firestorm had perfected the Renault Megane and it's nimbleness was too much for the lumbering Lexus. Iain managed 4th overall and Chris 5th with the team slipping to 2nd in the teams standings. In the GT championship however; Chris dominated proceedings by taking four wins on route to the drivers chamionship and LSS took the GT teams championship.

With the SMU championships winding down, Lunchie's Speed Shop was looking for a new challenge, which came in the form of TORA. Initially the plan was to enter the TORA GT championship mid-season; but that was dropped in favour of spending more time researching and developing their new Lamborghini Gallardo for TORA ISCC.

Along with the two Alderson brothers, the team also took on former SMUTCC/GT sparring partner Dan Price (ApexPredator96) to pilot their third black and gold UPS car. The team got off to a promising start by getting into lobby C at the opening round at Sebring and again at round two at Road America; but just before round three at Mugello, Iain 'Lunchie' Alderson announced that he would be leaving the team with immediate effect, handing the reins to big brother Chris.

After Iain left, Chris and Dan continued on; but then Dan too elected to leave mid season to focus on other projects. The situation looked bleak; until Chris hired the Portuguese driver Antonio Relvas (II AntR II) to fill the void. The pair immediately bonded well together, and with very similar pace, the new team mates developed a good respect for eachother. In their first outing together, they came home first and second in lobby B at Motegi. Despite all the line up changes, Chris finished 5th in the GTE ISCC drivers championship, and LSS finished 5th in the GTE teams championship.

With Alderson again partnered with Relvas, Lunchie's Speed Shop would embark on what woul be their most successful season to date in the TORA European GT Championship. With the new Caterpillar livery on the pair of LSS Gallardos, Alderson and Relvas went on win the EGT teams championship with Relvas scoring the team's first lobby A podium at the Nurburgring.

With the next season fast approaching, Lunchie's Speed Shop are hungry for the next challenge...

See you on the grid!
