I think the safety car should be a contrasting color like yellow, not the sort of non assuming grey. the car is still really cool though

The V8 Supercar would lap faster allowing the F1 cars to keep more heat in their tires.

(thats what i think he means anyways... unless the Aussie V8 brings the Aussie weather with it too lol)

they need a high downforce car to lap quicker so the f1 cars can keep a bit more heat in there tyres. this would improve safey for when the safety car pulls in the drivers will feel braver to get back to racing and could improve the show greatly.

Actually, i just read the Regs on the F1 season, it doesnt govern a speed limit. Regardless this is the Fastest V8 Supercar to ever be used as a safety car.

I think Colin means V8 Supercar as in the Austrailian V8 Touring Cars Like the Falcon and the Holden in FM3. That would be much faster round a track than an SLS.

In a straight line, Top speed maybe.

But around a track the Aussie V8 will destroy the SLS.

NEW F1 Safety Car for 2010 Empty Re: NEW F1 Safety Car for 2010

Post by Guest Thu 4 Mar 2010 - 13:00

Chaddy for someone who claims to be a motorsport fanatic, I find your comments odd.

Safety Cars will always be production cars, as they need to be 100% reliable, have two occupants (driver and spotter), and most importantly, be self starting as they may need to be scrambled at any time.

The whole point of a Safety Car period, is that the speed of the cars needs to be limited, to ensure the SAFETY of everyone involved (driver, spectators and marshals), therefore the speed of the Safety Car does not need to be high, having said that the new highly tuned SLS is the fastest car on paper yet.

In addition, Mercedes pays the FIA for the tender to supply all official cars, as this is an additional advertising stream.

Please remember that Safety Car periods in TORA should really be called BunchUpThePackAfterABigAccidentSoThereWillActuallyBeSomeRacing Car periods.
