Re: Hello TORA..
Thanks for the welcome guys. I am hoping to find a community to race with. About me. I enjoy racing but would rather lose a place than ram into another racer. AI does not count all the time lol, dang savages. I am currently at the end result of buying a house and not fully set up but am looking forward to joing the races. Or at the very least good friends to race with.

Re: Hello TORA..
ok guys/gals.. time for stupid questions:
Looking at everything I am still overwhelmed where to start. Of course I know to get a number and will do soon. but...
- is it best to find a team to join or run solo?
- how do you go about finding a team, pick one from the forum and try out?
- do teams tend to practice together or have scheduled meetings?
- Once I have a number, does each event have a number plate or does each team have it's own number plate?
thanks, hope I don't get flamed if these are too stupid questions.

Re: Hello TORA..
Surely there's a "how to.." around here somewhere, if there isnt there bloody should be...
Anyway
- #1, a team would be ideal to help support you running a solo effort, if you can talk your way into a team then even better, but in some championships there is a "Supply" option for some teams to offer support to those that require it.
- #2, As your accessing from reno, I'd reccomend talking first to a TORA regular from that part of the world.
- #3, We tend to do both around here, same again with talking to someone nearby (from where I'm sitting I suggest the entire North American continent :-S) to get into practice lobbies with.
- #4, you will be given the right number plates for the championship you enter, all you have to do then is put the right number in the space.

1. To be honest, team or no team is personal preference. If you choose not to be in a team and struggle with tunes, ask for a hand and I'm sure many people can give you a hand with them. Otherwise you can chat in each series general discussion about wanting to drive in a team.
2&3 Meeting kinda just get agreed on when chatting in "general discussion" or "laptime" threads. Heres you series links...
GT (Grand Touring) - http://forums.theonlineracingassociation.com/f87-tora-gt-sponsored-by-gt-omega-racing-forza-4-xbox-360
ISCC (Le Mans Sportscars) - http://forums.theonlineracingassociation.com/f86-tora-iscc-forza-4-xbox-360
TCC (Touring Cars) - http://forums.theonlineracingassociation.com/f88-tora-tcc-forza-4-xbox-360
4. Numberboxes are mandatory, and you can request them within the above links, under the threads "Series Decals"
Hope this helps!

Re: Hello TORA..
thanks ADx for taking the time to reply, I will try and see if I can find any active Reno/Cali players..
Thanks for the answers, I can't paint a car to save my life (besides one color) so I tend to buy paints off the marketplace. Doubt I can put my number on a pre-built paint job. So having a number plate already would be awesome!
I did find a "how-to" on new comers but it was regarding getting a number then make sure your NAT is set correctly.. Then again though, these questions could be considered common sense .
Simon, Thanks for the reply. I will thoroughly go through those links.
I am in the process of closing on a house (should be in by this week) so all my racing stuff (wheel/stand/chair) is packed and living off the wireless racing wheel (the new one). Once I am established will grind out a number.
Thanks again guys.

Re: Hello TORA..
You may find one or two TORA regulars who design liveries, or design vynil groups, if your going to run, for example, a BMW M3 in the International sportscar championship, then one keen designer will probably either provide you with the entire car livery, or the individual vynil groups so you can put them wherever you want...
Have a practice with putting some basic vynils onto whatever car your wishing to run in TORA, some of the basic shapes like the squares or the circles, and try and design something that looks like the basis of a racing livery before they put all the sponsor decals and contingency decals on it...
Look at this...
Ignore the "Scuderia Dewi Sant" logo and the TORA Approved Number plate on this Forza 3 Mini that I ran in my first TORA entry, and you'll notice that all I've done is painted the Mini entirely black, stuck a yellow square primitive vynil along the bottom edge of the side of the car and then stuck all the pre-made manufacturer decals down the side...
Sometimes the Plain liveries work better than the overembellished ones you'll find on the likes of modern car chase movies...

Re: Hello TORA..
Thanks for the pointers Adx, will give it a try and slap some stuff on a car (even if I don't have a number).
Can I ask a REALLY dumb question... wait first let me get my rain coat on ready for the poo that can be thrown at me..
I see different car abbreviations in here and don't what what depicts that quality.. like:
GT cars, what determines a GT car? PI? certain models? Now my common sense says a R1 car is not a GT car, but is it a A600/S700?
another I have seen LMPC? (12 hours sebring race).
Is there like a cheat sheet to tell what cars (or PI) are considered what class.? Sorry for these questions but these are the questions the bounce in my head while looking through out the site.
Thank you.

Re: Hello TORA..
For each championship you can see a car list that tells you what upgrades to do & what PI you're selectedcar should be. E.g Touring Cars have to have a PI of 530 with mandatory rear wings etc.

Re: Hello TORA..
TORA GTs are basically S700 spec cars with racing wings and spoilers, look at the "Car list" in the TORA GTs and you'll see which cars are allowed to take part.
LMPC is the LMPC class from the American Le Mans Series, everyone runs the same car and is a "test bed" for newcomers in the series wishing to try out before making a decision on running something a bit more challenging (Not justdrivers, but teams aswell), the Oreca Chassis and Chevrolet Engine seem to provide great racing aswell as a reliable run to the end of the race, providing the drivers dont get stupid and bin the damn thing during the race...
LOOK! It's THAT one from Forza 4!!!

Re: Hello TORA..
ok guys, got moved in to new house (sorry for grammar, typing with one hand and baby in the other) and got a number #911 .
so where should a new member start? not sure which races are locked out or which one can take new racers. I would like to find a race that is not will be easy for me to break into (not easy to win, already ready to come in last) and get the feel of TORA racing online.
only thing i do now is AI stuff and forza.net rivel. I would like a race with enough headway to tune the car and practice, if that is possible.
suggestions? thanks guys..

Re: Hello TORA..
None of the races are locked and all of the series accept new racers up until 30 minutes before the start of final race of the season.
The TCC and GT series probably offer the best competition. The next TCC race is on Tuesday at 9pm GMT at Sedona Club reverse. Seeing that you are from Nevada, there is also the NATCC which starts 9pm EST; however, the NATCC is not as competetive as its European based counterpart. The next GT race is a week away on April 22 at Road America.

Re: Hello TORA..
Thanks Bruno, and sorry about the friend request. Thanks so much for the info.
Sorry to be a pest but I have a few more questions regarding the GT link.
- the link you provided got me to the right place.. Now I picked the race you mentioned ( RACE ) and it mentions the times that confuse me.. It mentions 8pm GMT (general mountain time, right?) and then the race is at 845pm UK time? see below
Road America
22nd April 2012 - 8pm GMT
QUALIFYING - 8:00pm GMT
Race 1 - Start time - 8:45pm UK Time
I had another question about the cars but reading through the postings got it answered.. Just need to confirm on the time US/UK so I can plan and block that time out.

Re: Hello TORA..
GMT = Greenwich Mean Time (aka: UTC +-0)
This little thing we call TORA was started by a couple of Brits and it is also recognized by the Motor Sports Association of United Kingdom. So, from the start and for all time to come, TORA race times are based on Greenwich Mean Time (aka: GMT; aka: UTC +-0).
Seeing that you are from Nevada, I believe the GT races should be starting for you at 12:00pm (aka: noon).
Thankfully we do not have to worry about any daylight savings time changes till the fall.

Re: Hello TORA..
Thanks so much Bruno.. Little by little I am learning the process to get into one of these races.. unfortunately because of my lack of research I prepared a Lotus ( dropped 100k+ ) for the race when all the lotus's are taken.. , oh well, lets try again hehe.
