I have an xbox hardware related question PLEASE READ

So I come home this morning, after being 100kms away at school all week, to find that my xbox had been turned on accidentally by either one of my parents for an undetermined amount of time. The Ethernet cable was unplugged, which was probably the point where the xbox was turned on. So my xbox could have been running for 7 days straight offline potentially.

I don't know how long the xbox has been sitting idle for and I don't know if there should be extra precautions I should take this weekend.

Any advice will help.

Do you not have the 6hour turn off option activated??

There is an auto shutdown sytem on the Xbox 360 if you have it enabled - I think it is by default - that turns it off after 6 hours of inactivity.

It should be fine, if its just been sitting on idle at the home screen then it hasn't been processing anything so the fans will have been running at minimum speed. It's just a small computer, and computers in offices or schools etc will run at minimum load and idle for weeks on end. It's only when it starts processing that more heat is generated and the fans kick in to keep things cool. Also the Disc drive hasn't been running which is where a lot of heat comes from.

I would just make sure that it is well ventilated this weekend, and that before you use it for a long period that it has had a rest and been off for a day or so.

I have the old Xbox and left Minecraft open and running for 4 straight days so Takumi could go in and out when I was asleep and I was playing a lot of that time. As Richy said I don't think it matters very much as long as the disc drive isn't running.
