A GEARBOX PROBLEM?

Hi everyone.
I have watched the replay of yesterday's race. It seems that not everyone is using all of the gears on there car. Most people were using five gears instead of all six.
That to me is an obvious advantage that isn't right. Because those guys change up and down the gears less often and gives them a time advantage.
I reckon that there should be a rule where you have to use all of the gears on your car. That way, the racing should be a lot closer.
For an example, there was a Renault Clio championship I entered. The distance between the guys at the front and the back was way too much. They changed the rules where everyone had to use all the gears. After that, the racing was very close between everyone.

That's something that I'd like to suggest and ask everyone's opinion on this please!

The only problem with that is that the mods would have to watch every car after ever race for the whole distance to make sure everyone uses all there gears, also say what gear they should be doing along that bit of track. now I dont think that would come into effect here, all i can say is practise on manual gears and learn how to use them and start racing using only 5 gears like some do here.

Yeah, but Enzo and Alex still ended up Winning.

And also, this was a single make championship, with so many different cars, it will be even more unfair, as Torquey cars will suffer.

There is nothing to stop you using 5 Gears Dan...

we should be allowed 2 use the the gears we wish to choose!. f1 cars can run only a min of 4 gears and a max of 7.

it comes down to personal preference. Id only run six gears on a really long track. It depends on the car and what set up you have. Limiting gears in my opinion is not something that should be introduced. For example, the dodge viper runs best on four gears so having a set gear set up would limit the variety of competitive cars in the series

I use 5 gears DAN!......5 isnt the best in every case. I will probably try out 6 for Road AMERICA...

To be honest I was using different from lap to lap....
Sometimes atheend of the main straight I was in 6th and sumtimes only in 5th.
It doesn't really matter and isn't really a rules issue

i was only using 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears tho i only came 12th so it shows that gears aint everything. main reason i only used 3 gears was cause i was in a new car. probz use 2nd too 6th at the next track.

I only used 2 gears.

But to be honest, It is a good idea, but at the same time, you wont be able to police it.

And yes phil, we did I expect the results will be very similar even if the rule did come in. Monk was running all six gears in testing before i gave him the tune and he kept up fine.

Tuners dont spend al of this time tuning for it to come to nothing. I spent a very long time on forza learning to tune. You know the reason why? getting beat by people using less gears. At the end of the day, you cant hold the people who set their gears up right, at gunpoint on their setups. it just wouldnt work.

It should be personal preference, IMHO

We want to go around the track as quickly as possibly, but sadly the game devs didnt think that the gearing would be as weird as it is, so i guess we just have to deal with it :]

I think there should be a minium limit of gears....
of course you cant have a maximum because that is 6 gears...
Obiviously its a advantage....

there should be a minimum of 3 gears...

how do you realistically police that?

i say leave it out cz we re deep into the season now nd anyway its gears nd its ur choice. its not lyk im using race tyres wen everyone esle is on street tyres if u get wat i mean.

well...its quite simple...Since all lobby captains are supposed to save a replay(i think, im not sure)... they should look at the replays at the telemetry of all 8 cars...if they find something then they should report it...
plus...i doubt any car uses under 4 gears(AZt karter has to be kidding...or lying...). I can go more in depth but the more i get in depth the more complicated it gets...

this isnt F1 or the FIA


this is a fun championship nd team, for people to ENJOY racing.

People are free to use what gears they want. End of.
I undernd DANs intentions as a DRIVER IMPROEMENT sense but rest assured this will NEVER be made a rule.... EVER

I used 2 gears silencer.

3rd and 4th. that was it.
