The Viper GTS-R Team may also sport some special liveries in select events this season as they compete in the 10-race ALMS series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (Friday, March 1, 2013) – Chrysler Group’s SRT® (Street and Racing Technology) Motorsports team announced its driver lineup today for the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) presented by Tequila Patrón and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.



Beginning at the ALMS season opening event – the 12 Hours of Sebring – Tommy Kendall, Kuno Wittmer and Jonathan Bomarito will share GT-class driving duties in the No. 93 SRT Viper GTS-R, while Marc Goossens, Dominik Farnbacher and Ryan Dalziel will be in the No. 91 SRT Viper GTS-R.

In TORA GT, we had the best lobby placement in Sprint GT this weekend with texaspotatolord scoring into C-Lobby for the first time in the SRT Motorsport Pennzoil Viper. Needless to say we were expecting an E and below berth, but somehow pulled it together! Congrats to him. Next stop is the fabled Nuerburgring GP circuit for the penultimate round of the GT Endurance championship. We are expecting good things this weekend as XPR Roadrunner and XPR Overdrive will make their GT Endurance debuts in the Viper and M3 respectively.

So Serpent Racing has some super dooper awesome news to share with everybody!

Part One: Serpent Racing and SRT have reached an agreement for both Sebring AND Le Mans, which will see one Viper in SRT colours*.

Serpent Racing has had some news to share for the upcoming weeks, and thought it be appropriate to...well, share it!

Serpent Racing will be competing as a privateer, part time in the NATCC championship, partnered again with Drum Workshop from California. We will also be entering in the upcoming TORA Rally Raid with a partnership with Mopar (not real, incase you were wondering).

With its factory program set to enter its first full season of the American Le Mans Series and having gained two entries for this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, SRT appears to be on the brink of expanding its Viper GTS-R program to customer entries.

Ralph Gilles, President and CEO of SRT Brand and Motorsports, confirmed to SPEED.com that talks are underway, which could see the Riley-built Vipers be offered to privateer teams in the various ACO-blessed championships worldwide.

Following a recent test at Sebring Raceway, members of the SRT Motorsports Team responded to questions about the performance of the SRT Viper GTS-Rs that will compete in the GT Class in the American Le Mans Series in 2013.

Gary Johnson, Road Racing Manager of SRT Motorsports, said:


We had a really good test. We covered a lot of miles and had a lot of different configurations with the cars. We tuned some new components and we made improvements in almost every area. The really great thing about those cars is that they are rock solid, reliable and durable as well.

In a nut shell, this weekend fell quite short of expectations for the Vipers. We knew that the car was going to be the slowest of the field because of the build rules for the series on such a long track, but things just didn't go our way this weekend.

We weren't expecting so many drivers to be past the lap times that we were doing so we ended up filling the lower lobbies. During the race, however things didn't go much better. We had a few retirements either from damage from a crash or losing connection to the lobby. The best we could muster was a 38th place finish overall.

For those of you that saw my posts earlier today, I want to apologize for my behavoir and I want those to know that that wasn't myself earlier, but an emotionally broken down shadow of myself.

For those of you that don't know, my dog, Misty of 10yrs passed away just hours into 2013 on Tuesday morning due to a 7yr bout with Digenerative Heart Disease that over the previous two weeks went from normal (I mean 100% healthy dog normal) and heavily got worse to the point where we had to put her down.

Serpent Racing joined TORA as a development arm of Hailfire Racing, but has since grown into one of the "must watch" teams of 2013.

Serpent Racing's first race as a team was at the 1000kms of Camino Veijo. After setting a dominating pole lap, the team geared up for the long race ahead of them. mopar4t4 started the first two stints and had gained an enormous lead on 2nd place overall. Drake Hellspawn took over in the 3rd stint and continued the dominance to put the 2nd place team nearly an entire lap down overall. Serpent Racing will be commemorating the lives of those who were killed on Friday during the shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementry school in Newtown, CT. Serpent Racing will be doing this by finishing off the 9th GT season with a special livery with the schools colours along with special decals.

Yes you read that correctly!

For the TORA GT S10 World Championship, both Serpent Racing SRT Viper GTS-R Teams will become official teams under the SRT Motorsports banner.

After having a successful conversation with SRT and SRT Motorsports President and CEO, Ralph Gilles, he has agreed to let us use the name for our two teams.

I would like to thank Ralph Gilles, SRT and SRT Motorsports for giving us this opportunity.

Liveries for both teams will be revealed in due time, so stay tuned!

Serpent Racing, in partnership with Serpent Racing Products, will compete in this years TORA V8 Supercar Championship.

The driver who will lead the team in the championship will be TORA newcomer OcR Iced Star.

Pictures of the car will be revealed later this weekend.
