After spending years on Forzas, I picked up Turismo 4 a few weeks back. I see no valid reason to buy a PS4.
And if FM5 is more Horizon than it is Forza, I vote to stick with the 360 and FM4 for the next few years. No need to change a good thing, as when it comes to NASCAR, NASCAR 2003 for the PC is still the best that sport has seen.

I honestly don't get what the fixation is with day night cycles is. Why is it so important? I ignored it in Race Driver, I ignored it in Gran Turismo (yay someone is setting off fireworks, great) and in Shift 2 it was pretty but was on a useless game and I wasn't bothered in Horizon either.
It's not essential. I'd rather have a game that palyed well and had great car and circuit choice than a slightly darker screen. The inclusion of IndyCar and classic f1 cars is excellent. Hope they've done as good a job on the sound as they did with the later dlc packs (corvette gt2-wow)

The games wont b pc price either, if game is pants u are stuck with it, cant trade in or sell. Im getting the arse the more I here and thinking of going back to the land of the rising sun. I want real world racing not forza4/horizon keep everyone happy bullcrap. Rant over

Told you about half a million times that CARS is on the 360.
Also, As much as the IndyCars and 70's F1 Cars make me want to at least try the game, the fact that the Physics could be worsened makes my decision to go with CARS even better.
If Forza 5 is Arcade physics, TORA should go over to CARS... Just sayin'

Should be out beginning of 2014! It'll have all the awesome cars that Forza has and much more, as well as better physics

It does look bloody nice.

Forza 5 appears to be a pretty arcade racer pretending to be a motorsport sim (well I assume that's what the Motorsport bit in the game title means). Even your lap time disappears from view until you reach an split time (or checkpoint as I'm sure they'll be renamed). Utter garbage. Given the focus of development we've seen so far, I'll be amazed if it supports more than 16 players.
Someone in the community feedback area at Turn 10 is either not doing their job or the development team have decided to ignore them, as not having weather or nighttime for a next generation game is utterly utterly stupid and ridiculous.

R.e. night/weather: if done accurately, it could be great. I have yet to see it done right. Yes Turismo has night/weather, but its not all that realistic yet.
It would be awesome to have races stopped due to standing water and multiple offs, like the GP of Malaysia a couple years back. That would be "realistic and accurate", right?
Problem is do we want "accurate realistic dynamic" weather, or perhaps just a hint of traction loss and a slight blurring of features to simulate a brief shower?
I've heard repeated requests for "real time" weather. Great in theory, but would absolutely suck when you can't race at Nurburgring due to meters of snow, localized flooding or dense fog. Real time weather is much more extreme when you consider there are times that nobody can race in it.

Basically I took notes during the live chat last night.
Carlist
- Every car has Autovista
- Most cars have their own 'personalised careers' - historical battles with similar brands etc
- Dan mentioned Pirelli and Calspan a lot, talking about testing the cars for safety, physics etc
Customisation
- Now you can use actual materials to paint over the cars (solid gold, carbon fibre, brushed aluminium were just some of the things mentioned) - and they will come out looking like exactly they do IRL (apparently)
- No auction house or storefronts
- When you search for a particular livery and use it, you do not have to buy it off the person who created it. If you create a livery you get money through other people using it (like royalties when your song is on radio), and the money is paid through the bank of Forza
Online
- Dedicated servers, no more peer to peer
Drivatar
- This always learns your driving style whether you play in single player, multi player, whatever. The more you drive, the more things it picks up.
- If you're clean and fast, the drivatar will pick it up. If you're slower and make more mistakes/outbreak yourself into the gravel trap then that is what your drivatar will do
- You are matched against similar drivatars in single player, but you can move the difficulty around if you want to
- Everytime you log back into XBL the drivatar has been racing other people through cloud when you haven't been online - thus earning cash/credits
- T10 haven't made Drivatar a checklist to take information in of your driving (ie braking, steering, tuning) it's completely dynamic and absorbs telemetry for all kinds of cars, so its a system that develops itself
- When you race with a custom paint often your drivatar is more likely to use that paint job when racing against other people. If you choose a particular type of livery (ie race), your drivatar will display more racing liveries rather than just simple ones (a la Dukes of hazzard, crap example but that's all I could think of)
And then they quickly dismissed night/weather conditions.

^ That Drivatar feature intrigues me to be honest.
Getting ready for LeMans, I can imagine that getting the Drivatars from guys like Mad Dog, Venom and Trash and racing against them in GT cars, all the while trying out tunes for my entry, would help a ton at getting up to pace.

That's what I thought! Ghosts were good, but then real collisions will do the job.
Who needs TORA anymore? We can just race each other's drivatars. LOL

i agree, the drivatar is a great idea, could practice with my team mates, while they're asleep...
or get the upper hand on opponents while they are also asleep

I'm as disappointed as anyone else about the lack of weather and night, but looking at what IS there, I like these features above. The livery "royalties" is the perfect way to stamp out the paint unlocking fiasco.
Also glad to see drivatar coming back to "train" the AI. I used to use it a lot in FM2(?) to run my career races!! But seriously, I don't know why more racing games don't do something similar. AI cars braking mid-corner in FM4 drive me mad!!
I'll reserve judgement about handling in FM5 until I've tried it. Anyone lauding pCARS over FM5 based on looks/cars/tracks clearly hasn't tried driving anything in the beta. If you don't have access to a PC that can run it, rent Shift 2 to give you some idea. Unless it's improved drastically in a recent build update, I don't see it having the sort of handling model anyone here would call "good" or "sim"....
Re: Official Forza Motorsport 5 Thread - Part 1 [locked]
I hope at least if we get Indycar they will add some actual ovals. + Really hope there is a McLaren MP4/4 or a Lotus 79 Cosworth in the works.
