4th of July: Firecracker 100
This coming Thursday is US Independence Day. To commemorate, I am thinking about hosting a uniquely American event just for fun, much in the same spirit of the Open Cup that allowed me to build the cars that have inspired me to do this.
Firecracker 100
100 miles (25 laps) of Road America in vintage (1971-older) Muscle Cars, as per NASCAR of the era. A Class 600 PI, open build/tune.
Damage : Limited, Collisions : Default
Assists : TCS, Braking Line, Normal Steering
Car List:
1952 Hudson Hornet
1957 Chev Bel Air
1957 Ford Thunderbird
1962 Lincoln Continental
1964 Impala SS
1964 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt
1965 Pontiac GTO
1967 Chevelle SS
1967 Dodge Coronet W023
1969 Pontiac GTO
1969 Olds 4-4-2
1969 Dodge Charger
1969 Dodge Daytona
1970 Chevelle SS
1970 Buick GSX
1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee
1971 Plymouth GTX 426 Hemi
Since it is a US holiday that is mostly celebrated in the evening with BBQs and fireworks, an 8PM BST/3PM EST/12N PST start time would work great.
Entry Thread will be posted Saturday afternoon/evening.

Count me as a MAYBE. I have to figure out if the wife is wanting to leave early or not.

Re: 4th of July: Firecracker 100
Just to make sure I understood there Erebus, 90 mins to finish this race?
I've never done an A Class race on this track before.. or if I did it's been a long time ago.

Re: 4th of July: Firecracker 100
Mikey said it'll take just over an hour
because it's about 2 minutes 23 per lap, thats 2.4*25= 56 miuntes
give or take

Re: 4th of July: Firecracker 100
Zeta, races on this circuit are rare indeed. A Class events even moreso. Which is what makes it special. my time calculator says just about 60 minutes.

Re: 4th of July: Firecracker 100
With the 4th July fast approaching, a time for our American friends to celebrate 'basically kicking our arses' with Barbeque, Beer and Baseball, so i guess like a traditional Christmas in the United Kingdom, eat too much, drink too much and argue amongst family members while having to watch that same Coca Cola advert thats on every year.
Now for the Nascar fans, its a special time of year as we go racing at Daytona, under the lights for the Firecracker 400, and this year, a wee something online to celebrate the occasion with the Firecracker 100. Its quite simple to grab my attention, i love the Classic American Cars and Road America is officially the best circuit in the world in my complete biased opinion, it has a bit of everything does Wisconsin's finest. Four miles of perfection and what better cars to enjoy this circuit with.
The selection process wasnt easy for this one, the cars on offer tickle the tastebuds rather nicely and due to the unique way in which my selection process works in most multi car series, i think its called a lottery in most places, it does mean i usually have an interesting journey. This time around, well i start a thread on the team site, and the first car mentioned, or offered was going to be the selection, ATP Jeep winning that honour mentioning the Dodge Charger Daytona.
So here we have the Across The Pond Daytona, lots of effort into the paint, at least 20 minutes spent on this occasion as the vinyl group collection had a work out, the build was simple, its called quick upgrade to A600, the tuning was also limited due to time constraints this week, i had five minutes before hosting duties at 2am this morning.
Now you may say that a lack of effort and preparation is going into this, and you may be right, but 25 laps around Road America with the finest soundtrack accompaniment and a list of cars that when photographed could be classed as more exciting than soft porn of the same era, hell like i care what position i finish in, i will be smiling throughout.
Re: 4th of July: Firecracker 100
i think the Daytona will be the pick for most!
if not just more than the others, great car
