Re: MSA TORA TASCAR Season 3 - Meeting 3 - Bacardi 151 - 20th July 2013
This was a reason why once i took over the TORA Stock Car series, i left Sedona placed this early in the Calendar, to get it out of the way. In Fact, the first 3 races of the season has been the same since the 2010 season.

Well it seems the track was just layed out wrong. Turn 2 tightens up and the wall closes in, which makes it so difficult when cars get stacked up. But i would say its the wildcard race of the series.

Even though I got caught out by the Wall, (Which I feel deserves an official TORA name, Like the Wall of Champions in the Canadian GP), I believe it's merely a characteristic of the circuit. It's tough (It's a [Censored]).
I enjoyed the challenge

This needs to be a Poll....
Calamity Corner
Wall of Woe
[Censored]
Or we could name it after a driver like some circuits do:
Grosjean, Maldonado, De Cesaris e.t.c

Sedona is a crap shoot. You have to be lucky...and I was...Finished 10th out of 13 in the first heat after getting in a wreck early.
Finished 4th in heat 2. Made some contact with someone early (no damage) and scrubbed the wall a couple of times(again, no damage). I was very lucky tonight.

Re: MSA TORA TASCAR Season 3 - Meeting 3 - Bacardi 151 - 20th July 2013
I am not completely agreeing with lucky, just a bit.
I practiced almost the whole week on this track. At first I put a lot of cars to the wreckyard, but after a while I learned to drive the lines.
First race I got hit in the back in the beginning of the race, 80% damage and yes I was unlucky .
2nd race started 12th and I said it also on other series, try to start slow, some guys are in such a hurry to go to the lead.....
VAMR Wilson has THE strategy with starting.
But anyway, I drove my lines, took a early pit, came in the lead at lap 12 ( or something) and drove nervously till lap 25 for another caution period. after that situation I had my nerves under control and drove to the checkered flag.
No collision, no hitting walls so no damage. That is not luck, that is practice,practice,practice.....

I have to agree with Adder, practice does pay off. But your pit strategy was mint. Being out front is what pays off for this track to avoid the stacks up behind and wrecks behind you.

You ran a great race Adder. Your practice surely paid off. But Checo (top qualifier),Mario, and Uncabunca were very fast as well and showed that during the 1st heat. I believe they all got damage in heat 2 much like you and I got in heat 1. Practice is key for sure, but at Sedona it's still a crap shoot IMHO. If race one and two were flipped we would have had a very different outcome in the standings.

Re: MSA TORA TASCAR Season 3 - Meeting 3 - Bacardi 151 - 20th July 2013
Just want some clarification on the rules as last round when a safety car was told I dived into the pits straight away with a few other cars just to be told that that pitstop would not count as you are only allowed to pit when all the cars had been formed up into a bunch. This resulted in me having to pit twice losing around 10 places, not complaining as I did finish 2nd which I am chuffed with, its just that I cannot find this in the rules
"Conduct During a Safety Car Period
While under the Safety Car period, Those involved in the incident should line up at the back of the grid. All competitors are free to pit under the Safety Car/Caution period, but must form back up in order when they left pit lane at the back of the grid. Once Everyone has rejoined the field, the field will line up Side-By-Side in the positions they are currently in. Once the Leader has passed the Final Corner, he can call out the restart by counting down "3..2..1..Go/Green.""
I do not watch NASCAR extensively so I am not too familiar with the rules, however, in the TASCAR rules I cannot find where it says you are not allowed to pit under the safety car straight away? Just want to clear this up for next round.

Re: MSA TORA TASCAR Season 3 - Meeting 3 - Bacardi 151 - 20th July 2013
Agreed, this needs to be clarified. In every caution period there were drivers who went into the pits immediately and those who waited for the field to slow and bunch up before pitting. We all need to follow the same procedure so that the races are fair for everyone.

In NASCAR, the pits are closed immediately when the caution comes out. If you pit while the pits are closed, you get sent to the rear of the field as a penalty. If Mario is trying to replicate NASCAR ruling, you should of been sent to the rear of the field. I honestly do not know how Mario set the rules up for it, though.
