Re: Lap Times
Off the top of my head from other series with R3 cars, with the M3 GTR you could possible hit 2:03's and 04's... I've hit a 2:05 with another R3 around here but that was a completely different car (The Panoz Esperante)

Personally for me, the most important part of the track is the first 2 corners. The first corner is quite a fast corner but doesn't look it. There are also a couple of corners that should be taken flat out.
Try different lines through the tricky corners (The big long swooping right hander for instance). Some like to take an outside line to cut in at the end while others like to hug the inside all the way. Try different ones and find your comfort zone because a comfortable driver is a fast one

and i think the politically correct term for what's bolded is called the carousel
Re: Lap Times
A 1:42 in LMP is either a recollection mistake or typo, or wrong build I got a 46 just now.

Re: Lap Times
2:05.086 GTR
2:03.982 Aero Adjusted
Need to mess with the aero, could be a lot of time hiding in there. Just left it stock for now but I'm thinking that some lower aero would do good for the straights and won't take off too much off the corners

Turns out aero does help out enormously after all.

Re: Lap Times
2:09 with the GTR, same problem as the other guy. I've noticed that working on the the first two corners tends to improve my lap times the most as I can do the carousel and the kink rather decently. I'm gonna try the outside line on the carousel, though, sounds like a good idea. I'm not too good at inventing new racing lines that the game doesn't suggest in the first place, and I usually only develop a new line if I see it in practice and try it out on my own successfully (like how I approach turn 17 on Sebring in LMP nowadays).

I only use the breaking line as a small guide, I rarely ever follow it or break when it tells me too. Just the small things like turning it either a little sooner or a little later and trying different approaches to corners can gain you a good few tenths when it all adds up and you become more confident about using your own initiative.
I have noticed with the GTR that it does like to understeer... Alot... Hopefully its something I can work out the car over the next week or two.

1:48.7 clean, 1:48.4 dirty, splits for 1:47's in the prototype with the stock tune.

Re: Lap Times
I dunno if its any help to those that are "struggling" (Couldn't think of another word).
The car really likes to push because of the massive back tyres and not so big front tyres. Try different approaches to the corners. Quite slow in and fast out. I always try to get on the gas either just before I hit the apex or just as I hit the apex. Setting the car up for this is vital and requires taking different lines throughout the track. Try a late turn in on the corners with long straight ahead of them to get a little accel boost coming out of the corner.
Also, dont be afraid of trying new things in practice. It's best to mess up in practice and wreck your car than doing it in qualifying or the race. Dont just stick to what you're comfortable with in the next week or so and just really drive the car to its limits.
