TORA News - 5/8/2013
Hello again, The Secret Base in the North Sea has been in full swing, that means nobody has been able to update you all on the past, present and future here at TORA, some of you may be realising there's quite a lot of it! So its up to me, AMR Garage, back to fist-bash the TORA Typewriter like a 70s robot.
The combined International Sports Car Championship departed the States for the first time and arrived at the twisty-turny-uppy-downy headache that is the Autodromo di Mugello in Italy, last used for a World Sportscar Championship race in the mid 80s when the Porsche 956 was king.
Going into the third round, The Bulin Wall5 lead the LMP1 standings with his Lola Honda capable of 2 wins out of 2 races. The FLM09 based LMPC class was topped by PRT marioj with two consistant finishes, XPR Mad Dog taking the class win at Road America, || Alex P || failed to show at Elkhart Lake after his Sebring class victory. As for the solitary GTe category, headed by TG Takumi's Day-Glo M3, matching Bulin's dominant form by winning the first two rounds.
Over 90 competitors were expected to take part, and after the new qualifying format, used since the start of the season, 3 seperate timed sessions over the week, 82 drivers took the start of the 75 Minute race. LMR Deftone MX's Acura ARX-01b nearly racking in 160 miles for the overall win, with A Subway Cookie taking LMPC Victory (146.5 Miles) and in GT-e, BG Wumba, a British Gamer, in a very British Jaguar (134 Miles). Three completely new victors in the ISCC this season, still a long way to go to decide each title.
We are now 4 rounds into our American Based Stock Car championship, and we have taken more right turns than our non-fictional counterparts, XPR EGGY on the Pole and taking the win as Chevrolet went toe-to-toe with Ford around Infineon Raceway in the Sonoma Valley 112.
F4H Insanity Leads the standings with 446 points on countback, with each driver scrapping their worst round from the total points, Despite XBR Eggy missing round 3 at Road America, he is currently 5th in the standings, only 10 points behind the leader (150 points for a win).
The next round will be towards the end of August, around one of the flat Benchmark ovals for the double-header Texas 112.
We have now completed 2 of our TCR Spec Cup series, the first short series of 4 visited venues, with two races at each, was competed using the 1998 Mark 3 VW Golf, with the title going to TORA favourite ATR Dan, ahead of MysticVibrosis, angus rules, BAR Smurfy and XPR Mad Dog.
The second Spec Cup was a nod to the Kumho Tyre series in Britain, using the 1997 BMW M3 (ok so maybe not that much of a nod), and another closely matched and popular mini-series duly ensued. XPR Mad Dog improving on his performances in the Golfs by taking the series title, ahead of another XPR counterpart in the shape of XPR Immortal, closely followed by ATP Wheelwash who also took a keen interest in making these mini-series races look very photogenic, Bandit1097 and S1lentRaven rounding out the top 5.
A short break from one make repetition, ahead of a 3rd Spec cup "returning" to Renault Clios, we originally ran the cars in just-purchased stock form ahead of our Spec Cup fever, Signups begin on the 28th of August. Expect the races to be on a now regular Wednesday night.
TORA are proud to be sponsoring one of our regular competitors on the virtual tarmac, Russel "Rusty" Laidler, as he venutres forth into the reality that is VW Golf Racing. Keep up to date with his side of the story >>>HERE<<<
On August 10th the British GT Championship kicks back into action at Brands Hatch. Our friends in the striking PGF Kinfaun Aston Martin Vantage GT3 will be looking for a strong result. Be sure to follow their progress at The Official British GT Page
Thats all for now from TORA, I'm back on the nightshift for now, More information to come soon about the TORA Endurance Championship, namely the Community based event, also the Friday Night TCR Mini Mayhem, and more race results to follow, Good Racing Everyone.

Good write up Adrian, don't forget the titanic battle between CQR and TG in the McLaren Cup though.
