When will TORA switch over to FM5?

Will the new GT season be ran on 4 or 5?

**This might of been discussed elsewhere but I can't find it, so apologies if it has (please point me in the direction to the thread if this is the case).

I don't think the GT Season will return until 2014 on either game. In the meantime, Simon has launched a Production GT Series running on Friday nights.

I'm still pretty confused about what TORA's plan is regarding the XB1/FM5 switch. If anyone could help me with the following questions I have would be amazing. Smile

1. I was hoping that there would be more racing happening before FM5 becomes TORA's new platform. I can't see all of TORA's users getting an XB1 on release day, yet alone the TORA staff being able to test the required cars for relevant series to get their PI homologation (especially those coming later on DLC), is there any chance of series like ISCC, GT and TCC etc. running for an extra season on FM4 and might it be an idea to put this to a community vote?

2. If the above isn't viable then what racing exactly will continue on FM4 from now and into the new year?

3. When the switch becomes official around March/April, for the bankrupt stragglers (like me!) will there be any TORA-operated series still using FM4? And if so, what? I had heard whispers that running parallel GT series on FM4 and FM5 might happen; is there any truth in that?

Essay over!

Don't forget that community hosted events can still carry on in FM4.

Want to see the GT Season 9 cars back in Jan/Feb? - host a small series using those cars. The builds etc. all still remain in the archive.

It's what is going on with the GT Revival series right now using the older, production based regulations and the racing is great with enough people so far to need 2 lobbys each week.

..but only in community events rather than official TORA-sanctioned ones. That's fair enough; I understand you have to keep with the times, but it's frustrating that there seems to be no discussion about some sort of compromise where the likes of ISCC and GT etc. could be run on both platforms at the same time to accomodate all TORA users. At least until the majority has access to the new console. Maybe there isn't the man power to run all the lobbies needed, and I completely understand that, just airing my opinions Smile

The PGT series isn't really my cup of tea (prefer the full blown race cars) and as much as I'd like to try DTM, I can't due to work. Am I right in thinking that the spec series that you plan to run on FM5 the one-make, no tuning series? Maybe while that's going on an official GT series (even if it's on a reduced calender) could be run on FM4? Again, just ideas Wink

Maybe what you have planned for the switchover is already all but set in stone and my thoughts have already been considered but I would like to see more offical racing on FM4 before the switch Smile

I will be keeping with the current console till February 2014, and I know of other staff/CT's who are also going to own both but keep to the 360 until the switch-over period.

Ok let me get this straight...

You're saying that there will be offical ISCC, GT and TCC seans on FM4 for the members still owning 360s (which should still be a good amount of people) even after the switch?

^ That sounds like what was said.

And, I can safely say that this CT member will be hosting races on the 360 for an unspecific amount of time, as its unlikely for me to be debt-free enough for the new console any time soon.

There's an important typo there.
The core series such as GT, ISCC and so on will not be starting until at least March regardless. Those will be on Forza 5. Between launch and then we will be running a wide range of series on both consoles. I would expect support for the 360 to continue throughout 2014 indeed but TORAs main series will be running on 5.
That's not to say there won't be GT racing on 4 still but the above will apply.

The way it sounds to me is that there will be no "official" series like ISCC/TCC/GT on either console in the sense that there are no definite plans on what will be run yet.

The Xbox1 will have spec series racing where staff and community team members will aid in the running of events where possible.

The Xbox 360 will have whatever the community wants to run with events again being aided by staff and community team members. If the community wants a short ISCC/TCC/GT series then they can have it.

Will Tora be hosting some series where no assist at all will be allowed in the future?

I believe no other site is doing this and with what we've heard about assist off in F5 it does require a lot more skill.

I think the gap between assist on and assists of in F5 will be wider than the same in F4. Who agrees or dissagrees:)

Nice one Trash:D .With the 2000 Freinds list thingy i think all communitys will grow quite a lot 2014-15 so we might get lots of interest than what there is at the moment. The challenge if it is more challenging should interest a few.

Also the X1 should be good when setting up lobbys, switching between the website(to check race settings or standings) and your lobby (game).

Seems the new console is aiming to be more of a social network than a gaming community. scratch

Friend list limit on Xbox One is 1,000 (you can mark people as 'favourites' too so they appear at the top).

There's a new Twitter-style follow system too, so you can follow or be followed by an unlimited number of people, without actually being 'friends' with them.

New-style profile/avatar pic page shows follow/followers:

It's a brand new rep system, your existing 360 rep doesn't carry over. The new system is based more on player interaction, what you actually do with other players - rep from people who are friends is weighted more than random people you meet for example:

"Each feedback type in the reputation system is weighted differently based on a number of factors including the frequency with which the player has received the feedback. Muting a player has the least amount of feedback weight in the system. For example muting and unmuting the same person over and over will not affect a person's reputation, but if thousands of users across Xbox Live are muting a player in every game then that feedback would affect their reputation. And of course muting a friend has no impact on the friend's reputation."
