Hey everyone! I'm so excited to find out about you all. I learned about you all through the RVM newsletter from FM.com. Most of my buddies aren't into sim racing and only play Burnout or NFS. I'm stoked to get into some league style racing. Currently my lap times tend to hover around the top 1500 on the normal cycle online tracks for FM4, with a few top 1000 times. I'd love some tips on using the clutch, as I don't have a wheel and the clutch seems to engage for too long when I'm using my controller, slowing my acceleration. Help and tips would be greatly appreciated. Also, I generally use other people's setups as I'm a new father and haven't had the time to really explore. Any help in getting me to a reasonable starting point that I can tweak from would also be wonderful. I try to be a clean, respectful racer on the track and I love to race. I look forward to seeing you all on the track. I'm open to trying almost any category of racing, though my favorites right now are the LM cars.

Welcome
Best tip for using the clutch on a control pad is to map the clutch to the A button in the advanced controller settings.
Then you press it at the same time as the gear shift B or X to get a nice fluid change, Hope that helps

Welcome to TORA!
^ Newt's clutch advice is spot on, as that is the way most of us controller users set up the clutch button. Once you get used to it, it becomes second nature.
As for series to start out in, I'd recommend Spec Cup's new Honda S2000 series, the Vintage Trans Am Series that my team runs, or the upcoming Puma V8 Supercar Series on Friday Nights. All of which require very little tuning to be competitive, which would fit your busy schedule.

Thanks guys for all your help and tips! I was lapping last night with the clutch and it was super easy! I'm going to start out in the Puma V8 series since there's no tuning it looks like. I look forward to seeing you all on the track!
