ALL SPEC CUP SEASON 4 DRIVERS - NOTICE - 14.11.13
AS OF IMMEDIATE EFFECT THE BUILD OF THIS SEASON'S S2000 WILL NOW BE COMPLETELY STOCK.
This is due to reports of exploitation - therefore I'm taking safe measures to ensure there are no wrongdoings.
Sorry to post this with less than a week's notice, I'm sure you will all do fine.

Re: ALL SPEC CUP SEASON 4 DRIVERS - NOTICE - 14.11.13
Why does there have to be a few that feel they have to cheat to gain an advantage? If this has come up then with the information you have, whomever it is should be banned from TORA altogether. I was under the impression this was a beginners series. Is it that important to cross the finish line first that you must cheat.......... this ruins it for everyone. Just my old arse opinion. Nuff said.

Re: ALL SPEC CUP SEASON 4 DRIVERS - NOTICE - 14.11.13
They figured out that they could add a race diff and ARBs and end up at the same weight and PI.
If it were me, I'd just adjust the rules to allow their cheater parts.

Re: ALL SPEC CUP SEASON 4 DRIVERS - NOTICE - 14.11.13
Since they were forthcoming, I am not sure that they were intending to cheat as much as checking to see if someone would be able to.

Still think we should have roll cages for the race look, you couldn't exactly get away with not using putting one in due to the visual difference

Re: ALL SPEC CUP SEASON 4 DRIVERS - NOTICE - 14.11.13
you can't add a cage to a stock build as the lobby will be set to stock which meens you will not even get to set tyre pressures so you just turn up and race ! If you where to add a cage you would find you could probably fit one extra thing or another. Best thing is as bli33ard has done and set the lobby to stock.MYLES PR0WER wrote:Still think we should have roll cages for the race look, you couldn't exactly get away with not using putting one in due to the visual difference

Re: ALL SPEC CUP SEASON 4 DRIVERS - NOTICE - 14.11.13
I didn't know there was a cheating build, but at least its now a even playing field
Re: ALL SPEC CUP SEASON 4 DRIVERS - NOTICE - 14.11.13
I reckon its a bit pathetic that people are trying to exploit rules to gain advantage, I agree the best way to get level playing field is t make the car stock.
I just hope similar things aren't going off in other series???
Rules and builds are for EVERYONE to follow, shame some let the side down

No one was cheating, a team thankfully pointed out an exploit that could have been used.hilli182 wrote:I reckon its a bit pathetic that people are trying to exploit rules to gain advantage, I agree the best way to get level playing field is t make the car stock.

A very sporting team done it, who shall remain nameless for now, alerted staff as soon as they figured something out. So thanks to them!

NOW I BEG YOUR PARDON, I TAKE EXCEMPTION TO BEEN CALLED A CHEAT OR "PATHETIC", I WAS THE ONE WHO BROUGHT IT TO THE ATTENSION OF TORA OFFICIALS, I'M QUITE ANNOYED TO BE LABLED A CHEAT, FOR BRINGING SOMETHING TO THE ATTENSION OF THE OFFICIALS BEFORE ANYONE COULD USE IT AS AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE.hilli182 wrote:I reckon its a bit pathetic that people are trying to exploit rules to gain advantage, I agree the best way to get level playing field is t make the car stock.

Kilroy, I've read those posts, other people jump to conclusions without knowing the facts, thats what has pee'd me off. Myself and CQR Chris informed TORA as soon as i found the glitch.
NO CHEATING HAD TAKEN PLACE, AS WE HADN'T EVEN DONE A RACE......

Re: ALL SPEC CUP SEASON 4 DRIVERS - NOTICE - 14.11.13
Stevie, thank you for pointing it out to TORA Staff. You did a good thing with that.
May I rephrase my take on how I would deal with it: if a part can be cheated in, I would rather just allow the part(s) in question. By allowing the best possible build for a Spec Class to start with, it eliminates the possibility of cheating just as effectively as forced stock would, and makes a more enjoyable car to drive at the same time.

Re: ALL SPEC CUP SEASON 4 DRIVERS - NOTICE - 14.11.13
The thing is though Mikey, the way I see a spec series, is to have as little modifications as possible, as to allow newer members, who are not as good at tuning (myself included) to race without having to worry about is my diff set right, is my anti-roll bars to hard etc etc

Stevie, nobody knew the full situation at the beginning, and no one had accused you personally of cheating. We didn't even know who was involved until you posted you comment. Go ahead and race with us, we know you're not cheating.

Re: ALL SPEC CUP SEASON 4 DRIVERS - NOTICE - 14.11.13
ARBs and Diffs, as well as brakes, are relatively easy to sort, compared to race transmissions and full race springs/dampers.
My take is that "limited tuneables" eases newer members into the sort of tuning required for GT/ISCC/TCC etc.
Spec Series shouldn't be the same as Factory Stock Series, nor should it have "race" parts everywhere. In my humble opinion, Spec is somewhere in between the two.

I agree it was very good of you to inform the staff of the problem, would like to know though how you found out about it, I mean the specific build was listed, what was the reasoning behind finding that there were parts that could be added without affecting weight and PI, surely that is the staff's job to see if there are any exploits in a build.
Please understand i am NOT accusing you of cheating, just wanting to why you would look for exploits in the first place.

Re: ALL SPEC CUP SEASON 4 DRIVERS - NOTICE - 14.11.13
The first thing I do when I build a car is see if it can be exploited. It's not anything to do with cheating but reassurance that everyone is going to be on a level playing field. I commend Stevie & Chris for coming forward with what can be done with the build as I would have done the same if I had even built the car yet.
