TORA Race Of Champions Cars

Sunday 5th January will see the TORA Race of Champions take place at Tskuba for the second year running.  Last year we saw TPR Box take the title and with that is invited to defend his title this year but with his lack of presence at TORA this year he will not be here to defend his title and we will get a new Race of Champions Champion 2013.

Let’s take a look at the cars that will be on track this year.  For the second year running we will be using Champion cars.  The 6 cars that will be in the event will be cars that have won a championship in this year’s TORA events.
The 6 chosen cars will be

1 – GT World Championship – Aston Martin DBR9 – Dan Grin – Cyber Racing




Endurance events – Round 1 - 3rd. Round 4 - 1st. Round 7 – DNF. Round 10 - 1st, Finishing the championship with 670 points and placing him 3rd.
Sprint events – Round 2 - 7th & 6th. Round 3 - 3rd & 3rd. Round 5 - 7th & 6th. Round 6 - 1st & 1st. Round 8 - 1st & 1st. Round 9 - 1st & 1st Finishing the championship with 2228
Resulting 1st in the championship, giving an overall World Championship score of 2898 and topping the table.

Car Stats

This front engine mounted rear wheel drive beast provides 625BHP and weighs in at just 2468lbs.

2 – Radical Cup – Radical SR8 RX – Colin Barring – Prokart Team LMR




Race Results - Round 1 - 2nd & 1st. Round 2 - 4th & 3rd. Round 3 - 1st & 1st. Finishing with 565 points and winning the championship by 5 points.  This car will be run with the power handicap just like the series was.

Car Stats

This is the lightest car in the list at just 1826lbs, normally running at 460BHP in this mid engine rear wheel drive but with the 50% power handicap in place they are just like super karts.

3 – TCC Season 8 – Seat Leon Cupra R – Mark Guest – CQR Fusion




Race results – Round 1 - 6th & 4th & 7th. Round 2 - 3rd & 1st & 9th. Round 3 - 3rd & 4th & 4th. Round 4 - 15th & 14th & 18th. Round 5 - 11th & 10th & 5th. Round 6 - 2nd & 1st & 5th.  Totalling 2190 points and winning the championship by a single point.

Car Stats

The only Front wheel drive car on the grid this year it runs the lease power on paper at just 318BHP.

4 – ISCC LMP1 – Honda Lola HPD B11/80 – David Hoch – Team Oprah




Race Results – Round 1 - 1st. Round 2 - 1st. Round 3 - 27th. Round 4 - 1st. Round 5 – DNS. Round 6 - 1st. Round 7 - 1st. Round 8 - 1st. Round 9 - 1st. Round 10 - 1st.  Finishing the championship with 1704 points.

Car Stats

Last year we had a LMPC car this year we have gone one better with the LMP1 car, producing 556 BHP in the mid engine rear wheel drive car, it could prove a handful round this little track.

5 – TASCAR – Ford Fusion – Mark Brown Jr – Le Mans Rennsport




Race Results – Round 1 - 2nd & 3rd. Round 2 - 5th. Round 3 - 5th. Round 4 - 19th. Round 5 - 6th & 2nd. Round 6 - 1st. Round 7 - 8th & 4th. Round 8 - 5th. Round 9 - 8th. Round 10 - 1st. Round 11 - 2nd. Round 12 - 6th.  Finishing the championship with 1619 points.

Car Stats.

Marks TASCAR also featured in lasts years TROC and the words still echo in my ears of “Don’t use first gear” with a mighty 874BHP in this front engine mounted rear wheel drive car, it did prove entertaining last year.

6 – Rally Raid – Range Rover – Stan Stulpa – Marc VDS Racing Team




Race results – Round 1- 3rd, Round 2 – 1st, Round 3 – 3rd, Round 4 – 3rd.  Totalling 70 points and winning by 20 points.

Now the heavy weight at 5359lbs and 404BHP, it’s a shame you cant use the 4WD to off road it across the track.

Final Thoughts – A good bunch of cars again this year with the odd ball rally land rover to unsettle some of the drivers (you can roll it around here, or at least I did in testing)
