(PI 758) Audi R8 LMS:
Race drive line, Front tyre width 310, Rear tyre width 350
"A race can be lost 364 days before it starts. That’s always been the key assumption the Audi
Sport team makes about Le Mans. Which is why preparations for next year’s race really
do begin the day after this year’s finishes. ‘Any longer than that and you’ve lost already,’
says Audi Sport’s Leena Gade, who this year became the first female race engineer
to win Le Mans.
‘Immediately after the event there are discussions and debriefs among the team,’ explains
her fellow Audi race engineer Howden Haynes. The cars are loaded into their transporter
trucks, still covered in racing dirt, and rushed back to Ingolstadt to be dismantled and analysed.
Engineers compile a report that categorises every part of the team’s performance in
the race. And nothing gets held back. The document explores every success and failure
in minute detail, highlighting anything that could be improved upon for next year, or for the
team’s other race events.
‘We analyse absolutely everything,’ says Gade. The document takes two weeks to compile;
the engineers are only human, and the overload of sensory information from the intense,
24-hour race takes time to decompress and digest. It’s then sent to Audi HQ in Ingolstadt
where the development of next year’s car will already be starting.
According to Haynes, winning means ‘planning and preparation down to every last nut and bolt.
Le Mans is an endurance race, and the best way to win is to have no problems whatsoever’.
The truth is that, at Audi, the planning never ends. "- Audi.co.uk/Motorsport

(PI 758) BMW M3 GT2:
Race Brakes
"BMW Motorsport and Bobby Rahal have one big thing in common: both have been synonymous with success in motor racing for decades. When, prior to the 2009 season, the opportunity arose to embark on an adventure in the American Le Mans Series together, neither side needed long to chew it over.
The debut season in 2009 was immediately full of promise. As well as numerous podiums, the driving pairs of Bill Auberlen and Joey Hand, and Tommy Milner and Dirk Müller finished first and second at Road America in the BMW M3 GT2.
A change in the pairings, which saw Hand and Müller partnered together and Auberlen and Milner share the other cockpit, promptly brought about the breakthrough success in 2010: BMW Team RLL won both the team and manufacturer competitions to present BMW with its first title in the ALMS since 2001.
Remarkably, the team managed to trump its 2010 performance in the 2011 season. Hand and Müller lined up in one BMW M3 GT, while Auberlen alternated with Dirk Werner at the wheel of the second car. A one-two at the season-opening 12 Hours of Sebring was the perfect start, and a sign of things to come.
Hand and Müller also won the following two rounds at Long Beach and Lime Rock Park. Second place at Laguna Seca was enough to clinch the driver and team titles in the GT class with races to spare. Third place for Werner and Auberlen at the “Petit Le Mans” also secured the manufacturer title at the season finale.
In 2012, BMW Team RLL won two races in Sebring an Road America but failed to defend their titles."- BMW-Motorsport.com

(PI 791) BMW Z4 GT3:
Remove 1st Stage Restrictor (711bhp), Race Breaks, Front 325, Rear 340 (15% Power Handicap)
"Third race, third podium: BMW Team RLL scored a third consecutive podium in the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, finishing second and sixth in Long Beach.
John Edwards and Dirk Müller scored their first podium of the season, racing the number 56 BMW Z4 GTLM to second place. After 75 laps of the 1.968-mile street circuit, the duo finished 5.408 seconds behind the winning Corvette of Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia in the 100-minute race.
Bill Auberlen and Andy Priaulx had a disappointing finish in sixth after an excellent start in the number 55 car. As Priaulx entered the pit lane on lap 32 he nicked the wall and knocked off the right side mirror, costing them an extra 15 seconds for the mechanics to replace the door. However, sixth was enough for them to retain the lead in the driver points standings."- BMW-Motorsport.com

(PI 761) Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 GT2:
Race brakes, Front Tyre Width 310, Rear Tyre Width 335
"During the 2005 the FIA GT3 was founded by the SRO and contacted all manufacturers like Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, Aston Martin etc to enter their GT3 vehicles in the FIA Championship.
As Corvette USA-GM had no GT3 available a decision was made by Koos Pettinga of Corvette Europe to transform selected Z06 road cars into a new breed of racer to compete in the world's top GT3 championships. The first export car (vin #83 Z06) was sent to Team Carsport Europe owned by well know racing pilot Toine Hezemans (owner of a GT1 C6.R in FIA GT) for evaluation. Based on their racetrack test results, Team Carsport saw instant potential in the car. Hezemans contracted Callaway Competition in conjunction with Koos Pettinga, manager at Corvette Europe, to convert the street Z06 into a Z06R GT3
Director of Callaway Competition in Germany, Ernst Woehr, jumped at the chance to work on the new Z06. Corvette Europe, Koos Pettinga, managed to receive 6 GM CTF proto type cars to be shipped to Europe in the winter of 2005/2006.
The first car was stunning. After a great inaugural season in 2006 in the form of 2 teams with each 3 cars, another new group of teams took interest in the car for 2007. The first customer teams to take ownership of the new car included series like: BelCar, Dutch Supercar Challenge, VLN Germany and the Italian/Spanish GT Open. With new teams, names, sponsors, and drivers, the Z06R looks even stronger for the new season.
The Z06R went on to claim wins and propelled Callaway Corvette to claim the first series title win for the car: the 2007 FIA GT3 Team Champion and the 2008 FIA GT3 Drivers Champion. In 2009 it won the German ADAC GT Master manufacturer Team Championship and the 2010 FIA GT3 Drivers Championship. For the new 2013 season, the Z06R will be seen with even more teams and new mechanical updates (including the addition of paddle shift transmission)."- CorvetteMotorsport.com

(PI 765) Ferrari 458 GT::
Rear Tyre Width 325
"In line with a tradition begun by Enzo Ferrari himself, Ferrari’s commitment to the track has always extended well beyond the world of Formula F1 and also embraces GT racing which has even stronger links to its road car production.
That commitment has also produced the 458 Italia GT of which there are several versions – GT2, GT3 and Grand-Am – honed to suit the technical rules of the many championships in which it competes.
Developed in collaboration with Michelotto Automobili, the car made its track debut in 2011 and continues the great sporting tradition of the F430, which competed with huge success in the GT category between 2006 and 2010.
The 458 garnered a plethora of victories in its first two racing seasons: from the 24 Hours of Le Mans to the Teams and Constructors’ titles in the likes of the Le Mans Series, the International Le Mans Cup and the FIA World Endurance Championship. It also delivered Drivers’ title in the FIA GT and the GT3 Asia, Drivers’ and Teams’ titles in the International GT Open, in the Blancpain Championship and the British GT Championship.
The 458 Italia GT is based on a road car that itself features several track-oriented technical solutions. It outperforms the F430 GTC overall and its driveability has also been boosted by multilink suspension at the rear. Pit-stop accessories have been optimised too given the importance of the latter in endurance racing."- auto.Ferrari.com

(PI 763) Ford GT Mk7:
Race Brakes, Race Driveline
"Based in Braselton, GA, a stone’s throw from the world famous Road Atlanta circuit, Robertson Racing has come a long way in a short space of time.
The team is the realization of a dream shared by David and Andrea Robertson to see the iconic Ford GT compete once again against the titans of European sport car racing. As a schoolboy in the 1960’s, David watched transfixed as Ford became the first American manufacturer to win the Le Mans 24 Hours against the might of its European rivals Porsche and Ferrari."- RobertsonRace.com

(PI 759) Jaguar RSR XKR GT:
Race brakes, Front Tyre Width 320, Rear Tyre Width 340
"Jaguar RSR had their work cut out for them. They had a unique challenge that no other competing GT team had to face in the 2010 season—that is, starting from scratch. There's no previous chassis to make improvements on, no intensive OE development programs running parallel to their race efforts, nor was there a pool of "ringer" factory racing drivers to borrow from. And though all those things don't necessarily amount to instant success, they would certainly be very useful in gaining traction on a highly competitive playing field such as the ALMS Grand Touring class.
The RSR team was founded in spring 2009 when five-time Trans-Am champion Paul Gentilozzi (whose last three championships took place behind the wheel of an XKR) partnered with Jaguar Cars to build the XKR GT from the ground up.
Jaguar's involvement in the project was primarily sculpting the new wide-body shell—tacking on a total of 4 in. of width—through thorough CFD (computational fluid dynamics) analysis and under the direction of Jaguar's chief designer, Ian Callum.
The clay mock-up of the race car alone is claimed to have taken 1100 man-hours to construct, with the final carbon lay-up handled by a company in Gentilozzi's home state of Michigan.
I believe this team has what it takes to bring Jaguar back to its days of racing glory. The 2010 season may not have been the breakthrough the RSR Team was hoping for, but like any new venture, there's always a learning curve. "We understand that," says John Gentilozzi. "I just wish we didn't have to learn in public.""- Road&Track.com

(PI 761) Lamborghini Gallardo GT3
Race Brakes
"One of the exciting announcements coming out the this past season’s State of the Series address at Petit Le Mans was the news that Yokohama was going to support a two-car Lamborghini effort under the auspices of West Racing Team headed by team owner Eduardo Espindola.
With 2010 coming to a close, here’s a quick overview of the West-Yokohama Racing initiative:
The team, whose race shop is located on the Northeast side of Indianapolis, expects delivery of its first Lamborghini LP 560 GT “within the next few days” in Europe.
Brian Ma has been named Chief Operations Officer/Technical Director for the team. Ma has been Chief Engineer/ Technical Director for teams in CART, IRL, ChampCar and Grand-Am.
Drivers for the teams’ first car entry have been decided. The team expects to make an announcement “in the very near future”, before the Christmas holiday.
Depending on actual car delivery date and customs clearance, the team hopes to test at Sebring between Dec. 20 and Dec. 22.
The team lists as its priorities and timeline: December - Initial shakedown of car and Yokohama tire test; January - In house R&D as well as car and tire development at Sebring; February - Winter Test"- IMSA.com/Articles
