Re: 2014 TORA Spec Cup Series 3 Cup 2 - General Discussion
it's basically just a grip handicap front and rear that simulates a damp, moderate and wet track
Re: 2014 TORA Spec Cup Series 3 Cup 2 - General Discussion
I believe he will factor in a "handicap" to simulate a "slippery" track condition. Also it appears the "weather" can't be determined until race day or possibly a 5 day weather forecast.

I like the idea , I would just like to know what the %of the reductions would be for certain condition! be is damp/moderate/wet. There for come race day there would be less of a chance of multiple restarts due to people not knowing what their car will do!

Re: 2014 TORA Spec Cup Series 3 Cup 2 - General Discussion
If I let everyone know ahead of time it would be useless to put weather in as an element. Do you think drivers know a week, a day or even from minute to minute how a track is going to be. I know they don't and they have to adjust to the conditions on the fly. So if weather comes into play for a race then the only people that will know is myself and the Marshals that run the rooms and they will convey to everyone what the conditions of the track at qualifying/race start. We have already tested this idea in another series and there was no need for restarts because everyone knew not to run like it was dry.
Re: 2014 TORA Spec Cup Series 3 Cup 2 - General Discussion
and even then, we (Marshalls) wouldn't find out until hours or minutes before qualifying/race lobbies were due to open.
Yes, it's a bit different running a grip handicap in order to simulate rain, but it's still a great idea, seeing hosts use initiative to make the racing a bit more realistic and having some twists to it.
It's no different than series running drag tyres to simulate tyre wear
I love the idea, and I hope it doesn't get shot down by a few community members and then ditched after because of them

I have raced on drag tyres on another site and it sucked big time ! Lads I would normally race with where miles faster and it all came down to who was on a wheel to who was on a controller and the wheel was smashing everybody ! It's the same with grip loss the wheel has an advantage over the controller so it's not all down to the driver and how they cope with the grip loss.

Re: 2014 TORA Spec Cup Series 3 Cup 2 - General Discussion
I have also raced in a series on another site that used grip reduction to simulate weather condition and it worked extremely well. we weren't told until race day what the weather would be but we were told what the % of reduction would be for certain weather, eg. 10% for light rain and then 40% for heavy rain. having 40% less grip all round makes it feel like your driving a completely different car, it affects breaking, speed and grip. some people managed the reduced grip/breaking better than others, and some failed badly. in the lower lobbies there were huge wrecks because people didn't know what to expect even though they had some idea of the level of reduction that may come into play for that race, the top lobbies were OK for the most part but there were still people who forgot they have 40% less grip and restarts were inevitable.
i also agree with ranger, the people in the series i did this in who used a wheel, managed far better than those with pads as being able to keep a constant radius going on a wheel to combat less grip is far easier than the jerky movement of the controllers sticks.

Re: 2014 TORA Spec Cup Series 3 Cup 2 - General Discussion
I think I may even have one of the races where there is a complete blackout and everyone must turn off their TV's and monitors to race.
The way the series will be run stands. I will put up in the sign in thread for each race if there is a chance of weather. On race day I will decide if there will actually be any and I will let the Marshals know before qualifying/race what the settings are. If there are crashes, then there will be crashes and the Marshals know what to do.
So now enough on the weather, go practice and get your liveries ready and be prepared to have fun.

Hello drivers! Sign In for Meeting 1 is now open. Please be sure you have read everything pertaining to the race. Also, be sure your cars are built to the exact specs that are in the Car Build thread. So on race day if you cannot chose your car by race time, you will miss that race. The race Marshals will not wait for you! No Exeptions.
I will see everyone next Wednesday!

Hurricane, may I suggest a slight change to the build? There are quite a few race parts in the build yet the diff is left standard, the open diff in this is horrible, could we use the street diff? It's not adjustable but would at least bring it more in line with the race brakes etc.

The stock diff is an open diff, the street diff is a LSD so would help traction etc but is not adjustable like the sport or race, the car would drive so much better with it fitted.

Re: 2014 TORA Spec Cup Series 3 Cup 2 - General Discussion
NO changes to the build! The car is built to be like what anyone can buy off the street except for a couple of parts. There are no aftermarket LSD's for the Veloster and I'm not going to add one. This is SPEC not full race tuned cars. Little or no tuning. If I wanted the cars to be completely tunable I would have used the TCC builds.
Re: 2014 TORA Spec Cup Series 3 Cup 2 - General Discussion
We are not asking for fully tuned cars, just to add one part (not tunable) that makes the car nicer to drive and this will maybe bring more drivers.

Re: 2014 TORA Spec Cup Series 3 Cup 2 - General Discussion
This is my final statement; NO CHANGES.
In Cup 1 there were 80 drivers signed up. Of those 80 drivers 23 of those drivers made every race with an additional 9 missing only 1 race. In Cup 2 there are 52 drivers signed up and I would guess that at least 33-35 of those will make every race or at least miss one. I like those percentages more than having 150 sign up for a series and only have 20% actually compete in it. I put the build of this car up over 2 weeks ago and now people come and want a change on the eleventh hour. No, it's not going to happen. I built this car to a specific set of standards I wanted so I could keep competition as equal as possible. I didn't just wake up one day and throw this build together in 5 minutes. It took me 2 weeks of changes to get it to where it is. Will there be faster drivers, yes. But, to make a change this late in the game with the first race less than a week away is just stupid. The car is what it is. I would like for everyone to enjoy it as much as I do. But, if you don't, than I don't know what to say except sorry it's not to your liking. I try to accommodate everyone when I put this together and bring something different then what was in the past. In Cup 1 I had the same issues and after that was over I seriously considered not doing this series anymore because it was affecting my life and the way I looked at this game. So from here on out, if you want to race the car, I will be more than happy to have you race it. If you don't because 1 part is a deal breaker for you, then I don't know what to tell you. But, this discussion is closed.
