TORA and Iracing
I was rumored on the latest TORA update video that there was a possibility IRACING might be influenced here for drivers who drive in the Iracing service. I do race on Iracing. Its a complete blast and I love it. But the BIG DRAW back is that Iracing is expencive. Not to menchin You also have to race with a wheel. You cant race with a controller or a keyboard. An example is a friend of mine who tried out with a controller "RW26BLAZE" He struggled alot both on ovals and Road Courses. After he got a wheel he did faily much better and became worthy competition. One reason I love Iracing is because of its competition and car reactions. When was the last time you went into a race and your blood was boiling in a intence race from start to finish. Exactly my point. I really look forward if TORA makes an Iracing community. I would be very happy to join the competition and make friends.:3

Re: TORA and Iracing
I'm pretty similar as you with the low spec laptop connected to a PC. Someday I'll get a gaming PC. I just recently got my D liscense and I'm absolutely loving it. There is nothing more rewarding than winning a race and getting to do donuts after you cross the line. The whole incident thing can be stressfull sometimes but I'm really enjoying it. Hopefully sometime we'll even just get a one off event for us guys here at TORA. There's definitely enough of us to make a race out of it.

Re: TORA and Iracing
If it is well worth your money I'd say go for it.:3 I race Grand Touring for Road and for Ovals i pretty much race trucks and indy car if u wanna find me.XP
Re: TORA and Iracing
It's totally worth it! Just finished a race in the Mazda's where positions 2-5 were within a second of each other for pretty much the entire race. I managed to hold them all off and I'm shaking because of the pure adrenalin from it. I wouldn't have got that from Forza. Forza is good but iRacing is just heaps of fun. Also got my first incident free race which I'm very happy about.

Awsome man. Yeah dat feeling of u going head to head with a group of people. PLUS yes the racing does get VERY CLOSE to the point where u feel like your actually driving the car and pushing you limits. That my friend is an amazing feeling.:3
I'm also looking forward to the BMW coming out during the DEADLY week 13.XDD If u dont know about Week 13 look it up on youtube, or here is a link for ya.XP

Re: TORA and Iracing
Yeah I'm really looking forward to the BMW, I think it should be a good car to drive. I signed up during week 13 so I know what it's like. If figure of eight races are your kinda thing then week 13 is for you

Re: TORA and Iracing
Yeah iRacing is a heck of a lotta fun. Some cars are a bit iffy on the v4 Tyre Model like the Star Mazda but the FFB of cars is 2nd to none.
Would love to see something with TORA on iRacing or even some sort of PC in general.

Re: TORA and Iracing
I do enjoy racing on iRacing but it's not always everything it's made out to be.
Rookie class racing can be dodgy at best as people find their feet. Admittedly, once you progress higher the iRacing series races can be pretty clean and competitive. However, once the incident fear factor is removed for private organised racing things very quickly decline.
CQR recently put together 3 teams to compete in the BSR BTCC series in the Kia Optima. The racing is very competitive but the standard of some of the racing is reminiscent of what you find in a Forza public lobby. This together with the interesting iRacing damage and crash physics can see your race finished before you've even reached the 1st corner. It got to the point where a handful of us decided to retire from the series as we were sick of spending hours practicing to only get 3 laps done before having your race ended by someone else's stupidity. Oh, and not forgetting I had to spend £40+ on tracks to enter the series as well
If I had to sum up iRacing it would be as follows:-
"When it's good it's VERY good - when it's bad it's VERY bad!!"

Re: TORA and Iracing
Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not sat in an iRacing hate camp - the good experiences are that good that I always find myself pulled back in at some point. However you can't escape from the following:-
1) - You need a reasonable gaming PC
2) - You need to spend a decent amount of cash on cars & tracks to fully enjoy the experience
3) - The driving standards in some events are no higher than can be found in console racing.

Re: TORA and Iracing
If you guys want to set up an iracing League On TORA thats cool just no staff to run community ran sounds good
Re: TORA and Iracing
The cars and tracks can be really expensve which is a real pain. As for the pc I run it on my laptop. You don't need a really good gaming pc unlike project cars etc.CQR Jono wrote:Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not sat in an iRacing hate camp - the good experiences are that good that I always find myself pulled back in at some point. Re: TORA and Iracing
I agree with Jono, the Official series in the higher splits and licenses is very very good. But Rookies always seems to put people of the sim as it can be very hard to race in.
However, about the lack of incident fear, it really depends on what series. There are some very big leagues like NEO Endurance, ASRA or American GT Series, they put incident caps very high so that you might have a max of 7-10 incidents. It really cuts down the amount of crashing. I'm surprised BSR haven't introduced it.

Re: TORA and Iracing
Why dont we start a stock Mazda championship, it only costs a wee bit a month for hosting and we can use the rookie tracks?

Hi Joshua, we've got a list of our iRacing drivers usernames here - http://cqrclub.co.uk/forum/page/1/m/5201082/viewthread/5318328-iracing-usernames
Long time TORA member Andy Schiel (CQR the Butcher, formerly PLOW) took his first win for the team in the final round of the BSR Carrera Cup last night, with Craig Birleson (CQR Birla) making it a 1-2 for the team

Re: TORA and Iracing
BSR are charging £15 to enter for the next BTCC. I was considering entering but it kinda put me off. It's not the main reason. The Kia doesn't seem to agree with me.
As for our own event/league I'm definitely up for it. Hosting an event isn't that expensive so instead of paying to set up a league we can keep track of everything here and then just have hosted sessions with passwords.
