Re: MSA TORA TCC S9 - Car List
I say the Megane, Seat and ANY Type R Civic needs to get chopped.
The Civic has an unfair advantage because it is a Type R or Type RACE. The Megane and Seat have dominated the ranks for far too long and have proven to be way quicker than any other FWD Car. So those Three FWD Cars need to get chopped or have a PI Drop.
As for the Volvo, I know for a fact that I am not as quick as Hayden in the Volvo and wont be able to replicate his results in S9. So personally I wouldn't worry about how quick the Volvo is. It is kind of a Boat in terms of handling at times, but I love that car.
But this is just my opinion, I understand why the current list is the way it is, but I just think that the Civic Type-R, Renault Megane and the Seat LEON need to be chopped or have a PI Drop.

The Renault and SEAT were both ran by CQR and they are very quick in TCC.

Re: MSA TORA TCC S9 - Car List
Any way back to car list changed now we the old main forza 4 staff spent with a majority of very fast forza 4 drivers back almost a year and half ago testing the TCC cars for 3 - 4 months.
The car lists worked well and have not changed, Look what won the series in the archives cars are balanced
Fact is we all know fastest drivers will always find the time and builds and how you apply setups are critical in tcc

Re: MSA TORA TCC S9 - Car List
Take a look back at last season which drivers were in them 3 cars then look at the next entry in the cars. Some were A lobby poles others were C lobby, the one car no one chose was the Scion TC yet I could do the exact same times in that as a A lobby Civic, Leon. There's builds for every car that will unlock the time but tuning takes time not 10 laps in each car, you will find there all really balanced if you spend the time.

Re: MSA TORA TCC S9 - Car List
Agreed, as part of the TCC test team I put in over 500 laps combined in all the cars on the car list - and there's 20+ cars that are 'A lobby contenders'. With the right build, tune and driving style almost all of the cars can compete in A lobby - that last 1 second of lap time is all in the build and tuning. Look at the results for S8, e.g. Cat Nat where CQR's Cupras were 1-2-3 on the grid, 1 second faster than any other Cupra. Same at Sunset, CQR Civic 07 was on pole, 1.6 seconds faster than the next Civic. In fact, if it wasn't for CQR's entries, Cupra's and Civics would not have even made A lobby last season, let alone take poles or wins (except for Koenigsegg at NurbGP where he ran CQR's Cupra tune and got into A lobby too). And that's what it's all about - tuning. CQR won the teams championship in S7 with the Civic Si - a car that was barely even entered in S8, even though the PI was the same. Other cars that we've proven are A lobby contenders are the BMW (CQR D4N13L was 3rd in A lobby at Mugello Club), Integra (CQR Haburi 5th on the grid in A lobby at Suzuka) and Hyundai Veloster (I was 4th on the grid in A lobby at Suzuka). There's many, many more cars that are equally capable of the laptimes - but it does take a specific build, tune and driving style. The Cupra for example has a very flat torque curve (they're all turbo charged cars remember), just changing gear at the optimal point can find you 0.3s per lap by keeping the car in the peak power band. The Civic 07 is not overpowered because it's a Type R 'Race version' - the Civic only dominates once you fit a centrifugal supercharger, which is banned in TCC for that very reason. The Civic is in fact quite heavy compared to many of the other FWD cars, correct gearing is essential to getting good acceleration from it.
Focus on the build, tuning and driving style and you'll find competitive laptimes in pretty much all the cars on the list

Thanks Hayden - I should add too that it's exactly what you did last season with TG too in the Volvo and Lexus, extracted the best from the build, tune and driving to turn those RWD cars into race winners too.

Re: MSA TORA TCC S9 - Car List
I am about 20 hours in right now. On ten different cars. I'm testing on Silverstone, Hock Nat and Catalunya. I will fight both sides of this. Every car gets three different builds and 12 laps of each track in each build. (Power build, Light weight build and mix of both build)
Each car responds differently to each build. Some have been writin off as turds until the right aero and tire pressures were found and the boom right back in the mix.
The cars are incredibly well balanced for an open build series. The largest spread I have on any track right now is .4 of a second with most being .1 to .2 apart.
Now where I will fight the other side a bit is that it is not all about laptimes. Consistency and confidence in your car is what wins races.
The Megane in any build will hit a top 3 laptime by its 3rd or 4th lap and sit like a rock at that time for the remainder of its test laps. Where as the Cobalt which has higher trap speeds bounces as much a second a lap due to the unruly nature of that thing. This is why the CQR guys, Hayden, Tubbi, Venom etc pick these cars. They can extract 90% of the laptime with their base tune then tweek for the extra 5 tenths.
That is not unfair its just smart. It happens in racing all the time.
Watch this video. Its great fun and proves the point. "User Friendly".
Also its awesome to hear Tiff turn into Kermit the frog when he is testing.
Even if you added a rule about not being able to reuse a car you have raced before those guys will still win they will just have to work harder to do it.
Best series ever on FM4. Don't change a thing.

Re: MSA TORA TCC S9 - Car List
Wonderful post JVanEssen, you've hit the nail on the head. The Megane's a great all rounder - it's an easy car to build, has a good base tune and good balance and is a great choice for anyone - BUT, it reaches a 'ceiling' and there's not any more time you can extract from it, and can beaten by other cars that are harder to build, tune and drive. I found last season that the Cupra was a much better race car than it was in qualifying, reacts well in the slipstream and pretty robust, can take a hard hit and still drive OK. So laptimes aren't everything - as you rightly say, consistency and confidence in the car is very important too

Re: MSA TORA TCC S9 - Car List
Its the very reason i chose the Megane, it was my first proper season on TORA so i just wanted to be comfy and consistent. The fwd is also my favored choice so TCC was my proving ground having only really run rwd in most of the endurance races apart from my first, which was the infamous mk2 golf in britcar. I ran so many laps at silverstone national i was a contender for pole. Unfortunately as always i bottled qualifying and started about mid pack. Lucky for me i have great race pace and im consistent enough to do well in the races which is what i did and caught the back of Haydo in both race 1 and 2. During the race i was maybe a tenth quicker than Hayden but as he built the car well and positioned it well each lap there was no real way of me finding a way around him. I do remember people saying the volvo isn't quick enough at the start of last season but the TG guys proved otherwise. The whole car list was practically fine last season and no real need to change it.
