GRID Autosport TORA test session
Hey all
I will be hosting a test session for TORA events on Autosport next week, Thursday evening.
It'll be a little bit of everything on the agenda. If you're wanting to join, just say so and I'll get you in
For a bit of fun, and also to test how to use the game to get what we want out of it

Re: GRID Autosport TORA test session
We may have representatives from Codemasters joining us and giving us a hand in this test session too... Would be a great opportunity to ask any little questions you may have
Re: GRID Autosport TORA test session
Well I'm 100% in then! I wanna ask if they plan on bringing the qualifying and practice into online soon! Would really help us with league races!

Re: GRID Autosport TORA test session
Why are the Caterhams a f*****g nightmare to drive?
Why does touching the gravel between the penultimate and final corner at Jarama spit you two foot into the air and into the nearest wall?
Why is going over the white lines with two wheels in some places punishable like certain religions in 1930-40's Germany?
Can we have Qualifying in online lobbies?
Just in case I can't make it

I'll answer that, cause it's a sim-cade game

Re: GRID Autosport TORA test session
When racing online, why can I not borrow a 100% car from a manufacturer but instead have to borrow an ~85% car from a 'garage' if I do not own an eligible vehicle. It would be nice to have the option to at least repair the damage before a race but you can't because it is not your car.
If you could borrow a 100% car from a manufacturer and it's a race car it would also be nice to have the option to tune the car.
Why do I also have to get to much higher levels to be able to upgrade a car?

Re: GRID Autosport TORA test session
It's just an incentive to level up and buy cars, otherwise the whole XP/money thing is pointless
Re: GRID Autosport TORA test session
I realise that but I really think their balance is waaaaaaaaaaaay off.Standaman94 wrote:It's just an incentive to level up and buy cars, otherwise the whole XP/money thing is pointless
After about 3 hours of online play I barely have enough for a second hand touring car.
That is 1 car for 1 discipline of racing that isn't even usable all that time in that discipline.
You are going to need to clock a LOT of hours to be able to afford a couple of cars for each discipline.
Maybe Forza spoilt me but at least there, if you raced for 3 hours, you could buy a couple of cars and then upgrade & tune them through multiple classes and use them every race.
In GRID, unless you are consistently on the podium, the economy seems much tighter which really doesn't help when the cars are more specialised for each race.
If they have intentionally made it tough to validate their XP/money sturcture and get people to put more time into the game then they should have more faith in their product. If you make something good then people will be happy to put the hours in and enjoy it. Right now it feels more like Grind Autosport just to get anywhere and IMO isn't as enjoyable as it could be.

Re: GRID Autosport TORA test session
What we learned tonight:
1. Setting up a 'Qualifying' race is tricky
2. Bathurst is terrifying in any car, including Mini Miglias
3. The AI are bullies.
