TCR Vintage Trans Am Series 2 Discussion Thread
I am proud to announce that for the first time in TORA, the same series for both Forza 4 and Forza 5 will be launched simultaneously, as Old School American Muscle returns in the MSA TORA Trans Am Series on Forza Motorsports 5 and TCR Vintage Trans Am Series enters its second season on Forza Motorsports 4.
This thread is for the discussion of the FM4 version, the TCR Vintage Trans Am Series 2...

The first series of this was brilliant! Just a shame that halfway through the series the Xbone launched. Arguably my favourite series on FM4. Awesomely close racing!

Re: TCR Vintage Trans Am Series 2 Discussion Thread
I'm new to TORA, but not to virtual racing. Going to ask around to see if my teammate wants to run in another series. We are doing 2 right now over on VM (Virtual Motorsports) but one will end next week. You guys think you will get a big turn out?

Re: TCR Vintage Trans Am Series 2 Discussion Thread
Ben, I doubt that we'll get a huge turn out, as Fridays tend to be more casual here on TORA. But I will wager that those that do show up will be quite entertained by the racing that these cars tend to produce.
Re: TCR Vintage Trans Am Series 2 Discussion Thread
The Ford Mustang Mach 1 doesn't match the weight build.. I'm getting 3069 and not the required 3068. Either this is a fault on my half (checked 3 times) or its a typo on your behalf.
Edit- its an error on my behalf. It's fine sorry for the trouble mikey

Re: TCR Vintage Trans Am Series 2 Discussion Thread
Its most likely a typo. Been meaning to rewrite the rules to match weight, torque and HP of the actual builds.
Re: TCR Vintage Trans Am Series 2 Discussion Thread
'The Greatest Touring Car Australia has ever seen.' Quite a statement for a car born in America and driven by an unknown Canadian, But this was the car that not only rewrote the history books, but turned a young Canadian into a National Treasure in Australia.
Allan Moffat moved to Australia in his late teens with his parents, motor sport was in his blood and he wasnt too bad at it either, campaigning a Ford Cortina in various events both in Australia and the USA, he was involved in the original Trans Am series in the United States, driving for Carroll Shelby at one point.
In 1969, Allan Moffat made the decision to move to Australia perminently, and attempt to make his occupation as a Full Time Professional Race Car driver, which at the time Australia had the grand total of zero. He came across, knowing that racing would have to be a weekly deal, a good car was going to be needed and lady luck would certainly have to play her part as well. He arrived with a bright red Boss 302 Ford Mustang, direct from the Ford, built by Kar Kraft, big time sponsorship and in next four years won 101 of his 151 starts.
Amazingly, it never won the Australian Touring Car Championship, to be honest, there was times when the Mustang was at such a disadvantage, that it took a miracle worker to make the magic happen, and in Allan Moffat, they certainly had that, you either loved him or loathed him, but as the whole of Australia will say, you had history in the making and in a career that spanned 25 years when he retired in 1989, Australia's favourite adopted son, had a driving record to be proud of.
At ATP, we love the chance to run replica's, we may never be able to do them justice, but we always like to make an effort in all departments and it wont be due to a lack of effort that this car wouldnt be at the very top come the end of the six round series. come Some Evil Dude to the line up for this one, usually found on Virtual Motorsports, the lure of a Trans Am Series just too much to resist, he is the man behind the car selection, zero testing in coming to that decision, more a love affair with the Mustang, we prefer to have fun during a series, whatever we race, certainly no picking the easiest or best car in a line up here, there enough glory hunters out there needing there ego's boosted in that department.
Joining Some Evil Dude will be ATP Wheelwash, to say he gets excited by these cars would be an understatement, if time travel was possible, guessing where Moo ended up wouldnt be rocket science, in fact he would probably be being fondling the undercarriage of a Series One Pontiac Firebird right now if he could. ATP Wheelwash was involved in both the first season and the recent one off special, campaigning his beloved 1973 Trans Am on both occasions, no real success in either event, just a whacking smile at the end of the night due to the combination of Turtle Beach Headphones and a throbbing V8.
Opening round is in Florida, at the Sebring International on the 29th August, preparations are under way now, well, the cars are built and painted. The WRM Flickr Page has now got the TORA Trans Am Season Two Album opened and will be the first place to see the photos from the event from WRM.

And here I am... Not surprising to see BigBen0913 has been tempted by the lure of classic muscle car racing, and looking forward to testing the cars later today.

Anyone else find the Challenger was a bit keen to hop up onto 2 wheels?

In testing, I have found a way to get all of them on two wheels, if not completely inverted.

Haha, catch the Kerbs wrong with any of the cars and you'll flip them. I was able to get the challenger the flip, bounce then barrel roll and land on all 4 wheels, giving me a clean getaway.. Only damage I got was springs but being in test drive, couldn't get a reply of it otherwise it would be straight up in the media section lol. Best cars I've fount are Camaro Z28 and the Mustang Boss 429.. Can't get the boss up on 2 wheels for some reason...

Perhaps I was just testing it against 2 of the more stable cars (Mercury Cougar and '71 Mustang)?

I case any of you guys have got the same problem as Blaze, here's the car modifications I've put on, giving the car the correct PI, BHP and torque but 6lbs down on the weight.
Street Air filter
Sport Intake Manifold/Throttle Body, Sport Camshafts, Sport Springs, Sport Anti Roll Bars (Front and Rear), Sport Transmission.
Forza Aero, no hood change.
Race Carburetor, Race Displacement, Race oil and cooling, Race brakes, Race chassis, Race weight reduction, Race differential and Race tyres
Front tyre width - 235/14
Rear tyre width - 275/14
Hope this resolves your problems with the Javalin
Specs:
401 BHP
481 LB-FT
3,006 LBS
7.2 L

Re: TCR Vintage Trans Am Series 2 Discussion Thread
Thanks Pr3d. I've been meaning to retype that since last season.
Re: TCR Vintage Trans Am Series 2 Discussion Thread
Just curious mikey, why no Ford Falcon? I understand it's probably got to much BHP at 491 but that's it's only advantage, got it doing 2:18:6 round Sebring and its not exactly the most stable car out there. The weight it 2,998 LBS but its only 13LBS below the Trans Am?..

Re: TCR Vintage Trans Am Series 2 Discussion Thread
Think because it's technically not TA, it's Australian TC
Re: TCR Vintage Trans Am Series 2 Discussion Thread
Ah, I see. Fair point no point having a Australian TC in a TA series

Re: TCR Vintage Trans Am Series 2 Discussion Thread
I left out certain cars, such as the 69 Charger and 69 GTO because those were NASCAR cars of the era. They were not contenders in the 1970 SCCA Trans Am series.
The 73 Falcon XB was an Australian only built car, was not brought to the States, thus was not in Trans Am.
Then there are cars I wish we could fit within the narrow build window, but did not fit the PI-Weight-Power ratio. The 69 Camaro, 69 Firebird, 68 Barracuda and 65 Mustang all fell short in this regard. The 68 Shelby Mustang could have fit, but was horribly off pace no matter how we built it, so it was dropped.
That being said, the builds have been tried, tested and proven to be very equal. We had a test crew within Ax4x that helped test them over a 6 week period before the first season was run. The first season had some incredibly close racing among all of the different cars, and there's been some one off races, as well as another series using these builds on an American site.

I see, can you send me the build for the '68 Shelby mustang? Be interesting to see how much it's of the pace by
