Welcome to the TCR Clubman C Cup
Hello TORA members, I am pleased to announce the inaugural season of the TCR Clubman C Cup!
This series, originally developed at Grassroots Motorsports, is a staple of American Prime Time public lobbies, as well as the Ax4x Club website. The rules are rather basic, any C Class car over 2200Lbs under 200HP, with the lone exception of the Lancia 037. Race rollcages are mandatory, Forza Aero is banned, and except for those two rules, builds are open to your imagination.
With over 90 possible legal cars, there is no set carlist, however, to maximize diversity on the grid, there is a car cap in place that limits one driver entry per any one car. In other words, once a car has been chosen, nobody else can choose that car.
On that note, feel free to discuss, and any questions will be answered here in this thread.
Cheers!

Re: Welcome to the TCR Clubman C Cup
I've made a shortlist of cars I like the look of for this so will have to see how they build up to the C Class limit.
Don't want to be picking a car I can't get into the restrictions.

Tubbi fancy playing out of the same garage for a change ? I haven't raced for over 10 months but I'm sure I can get back into the swing of things and might be able to make B lobby.

Ranger, Tubbi's right mate. I thought for sure that Touring Masters would have brought you back, but either way I hope to see your return to racing.

In my experience of racing to these specs, some of my favorite cars include:
Mazda MX5/Miata/RX7 Savanna
1979 Chevrolet Camaro Z28
various Honda Civics
BMW CSL
Ford Mustang II
AMC Gremlin
and for sheer entertainment value: 1940 Ford Coupe with all the torques it brings.
And I have seen all of those cars win races, as well as getting beat by various British two seaters and French hatchbacks. Its as hard to find a "bad" car as it is to find that one "dominant" car.

If you like, I,ve made over 60 cars in prep for this, there are alot of dogs in that bunch but some real corkers too.
I'm still tuning the final pair and will send them to you with paints and stuff.
Mikey, when will the car selection be available?

Re: Welcome to the TCR Clubman C Cup
A Tubbi TopTip:
Some of the car list can be extended, have you seen a car that you like but its a bit to light so wont meet the weight restriction of 2200lbs or over.
Ask yourself....does it take a 4WD conversion.....adds alot of weight and brings it into play, a good example is the Escort RS1800, doesnt fit till its 4WD!!

Re: Welcome to the TCR Clubman C Cup
Can't wait for this
have at least 2 dozen cars made
Tubbi has given his top tip, so so will I.
DON'T use the original Datsin. It's a roll-oholic. If anyone saw the 4hrs of LeMons stream from last year, I managed to roll it 10 times in 2 hrs (3 within two laps- roll, pit in, pit exit, roll, roll, pit in)

Lancia Stratos is good, but only if you put massive rims on it

Re: Welcome to the TCR Clubman C Cup
Gentleman's agreement not to use the Intercooler as ballast in a N/A car (aka no aspiration glitching to increase the weight)?

There's some cars that req the aspiration glitch just to meet power restrictions. TBH, those cars tend not to be as dominant within the power/weight rules as they can be otherwise.
That being said, I did some rebuilds last night, and may now have some strange aspiration dependency issues.

Registration opens Saturday, Nov the 8th at 7PM GMT/2PM EST/11AM PST. First come, first served. One entry, Privateer or Team, per person, and the poster must be part of that entry.
As entries get processed, I will add each selected car to the "No Longer Available" list.
Re: Welcome to the TCR Clubman C Cup
I built up 8 cars earlier and ran them all round Camino Viejo Full and was pleasantly surprised.
One of them was a bit of a disappointment but other than that, the remaining seven cars were all within 4 tenths of each other.
FWD/RWD, 4cyl/6cyl, European/Asian/American there was a real mix of everything.
Looking forward to registration day and hoping a few of the cars on my shortlist get taken to make my decision easier.

Re: Welcome to the TCR Clubman C Cup
In the interest of fair play, I as race host will refrain from selecting a car until late Sunday night GMT.
I have my eye on a couple favorites of mine, and am hoping nobody else has as poor taste in cars as I do.

Re: Welcome to the TCR Clubman C Cup
Have you thought of running a manufacturer's title for this one as well?
With so many manufacturers available to us but only one representative of each model it could be a good little extra championship to fight for and show strength in depth for a manufacturer.
Just an Idea...
