Allow Solo Efforts?
TORA Pro GT Sebring 500 - Allow Solo Efforts?
We are getting very mixed views on the subject of whether or not to allow people the option to run the event alone, as opposed to with a teammate. Maybe a poll will help us reach a more clear decision.
Re: TORA Pro GT Sebring 500 - Allow Solo Efforts?
I think the teams should apply to car clubs and solo can be free agents. The concern really is large teams like F4H and LMR hogging or saturating the field. I mean if I really wanted, I could submit 15 teams and I am sure LMR could too, etc.
That is my two cents on the matter. If that is not an option then solo entries should not be allowed. At the end of the day, solo guys can team up (each series provides this) and I mean, we at F$H would be happy to absorb solo guys and team them up with F4H members and so forth.

Re: TORA Pro GT Sebring 500 - Allow Solo Efforts?
I voted no for one big reason for me.
I've seen it many times with different endurance events where people signed up as solo and didn't finish the race.
As the available spots are limited for this event I say sign up with the minimum of 2 people so your team will finish the race. That way more people can enjoy this aweomse event.
But a good point if we allow people to solo it, make a separation for people from the "major" clubs to only be able to sign up as a team. To avoid having 10 F4H teams, 10 LMR teams and 10 HCR teams and so on.

I pretty much agree with all of this. He's got a point. I've seen people do this and not finish the events and especially if they have a bad run in stint 1. The chances that your team mate will race anyway to get a run out is more probable than the solo guy finishing.Freheliaz wrote:I voted no for one big reason for me.

Re: TORA Pro GT Sebring 500 - Allow Solo Efforts?
Only way it could work was without a car cap but without a car cap the lobbies would take too long to sort after each stint and the event would easily get big delays. My simple take on the matter.

there are two stints here guys....nobody knew abut the 1min behind blobby rule otherwise no teams would have droped and that was a 8hr/10hr adventure

Valid point right there.ROSCOEpCOTRAIN wrote:there are two stints here guys....nobody knew abut the 1min behind blobby rule otherwise no teams would have droped and that was a 8hr/10hr adventure
I still think that the solo entry should only apply to actually peeps who fly solo and not guys on teams.

Re: TORA Pro GT Sebring 500 - Allow Solo Efforts?
Yea, I think solos should be allowed for those who cannot find a teammate they want to run with. Understandably some people won't want to run with a teammate that is 2+ seconds slower per lap simply because they must be in a team. Ultimately we just need to police each other and form as many teams as possible so more people can participate. I guess it also comes down to how many entries we see as well, but I expect it will fill up.

If it fills with further demand, we will extend the cap. If that happens though, more people need to start volunteering to host.

Re: TORA Pro GT Sebring 500 - Allow Solo Efforts?
Thanks Evan. Him, Driv3, and Iceman have been our saviors when its come to hosting starting way back at Bathurst. But in order for this to work, we need more people I'm afraid.

Re: TORA Pro GT Sebring 500 - Allow Solo Efforts?
I think that solo efforts would be fine as long as only people who don't have teams apply. Otherwise we'd be inundated by 20+ entries by double stinting a-lobby regulars and nobody else would have a look in. Team up if you can, if not then either look for a second person or grab a solo entry. We would just have to police ourselves and each other (which as a community we are pretty good at).
Re: TORA Pro GT Sebring 500 - Allow Solo Efforts?
Despite the seemingly popular idea of encouraging only people who can't find a teammate to run solo, the poll says otherwise. With registration opening in just about 90 minutes, it seems a decision will not be reached.
Therefore, you may sign up with one driver, however when a decision is reached in the next couple days, it is very possible that those signed up alone will have to either add a 2nd driver, or pull their solo entry from the event. In the meantime, the original rules stand for registration.

The poll says otherwise buddy. 12 yes, 16 NO.

Re: TORA Pro GT Sebring 500 - Allow Solo Efforts?
My point exactly. the majority of the responses here contradict the poll. So a decision will not be made pre registration.
Re: TORA Pro GT Sebring 500 - Allow Solo Efforts?
Sorry but the poll is clearly not in favour of solo entries, it doesn't matter how many people posted their opinion instead of actually voting in the poll. A poll is a poll and it say no. They should of voted in the poll instead.

Re: TORA Pro GT Sebring 500 - Allow Solo Efforts?
dumb question: what's with all the polls lately? Can't the admin make a judgement and roll with it?
To me, Multiclass endurance events mean running with more than one driver in the car, even if the event is 90 minutes long. Blancpain does it, the smaller series here in the states do it, so what gives?

Re: TORA Pro GT Sebring 500 - Allow Solo Efforts?
Yes, they should however every time we do, there's people complaining. It's really a case of generosity to involve everyone in these decisions.
Re: TORA Pro GT Sebring 500 - Allow Solo Efforts?
I get that you guys want everybody to be involved, but why have two separate polls for a track, then this poll to run solos. Wasn't ProGT supposed to be an endurance event with just teams?
From an outside point of view (because I usually just run stock cars on oval tracks for my gaming) it feels like that it's really a giant run-around to give the vocal minority what they want and everybody else has to pay for it.
