Re: TORA Avon Tyres British GT Championship: Lap Times
Anyone have a GT4 Aston setup that can compete with the Ginetta's around Oulton that is willing to share?

Re: TORA Avon Tyres British GT Championship: Lap Times
I have no idea how you can put the Aston on the level of the Ginetta. The only things I chanched is suspension, sway bars, downforce and some differential stuff, nothing else. Works quite good but a Ginette in the right hands in unbeatable I think. I've heard of both cars hitting 38s around Oulton, so they should be fairly close. Haven't tried the Aston myself, but the Ginetta felt absolutely awful stock.

Re: TORA Avon Tyres British GT Championship: Lap Times
1.35's in Aston GT3 can push for 33-34's on smooth lap, just need to hit those braking points correctly

yh that ginetta will do 37's if you get it right, dont see the Aston being competitive throughout the season IMO.

mid/high 37's for the Ginetta and high 39's for the Aston. If someone is getting 38's in the Aston I would like to now how they are managing it.LMR Harmonic wrote:I've heard of both cars hitting 38s around Oulton, so they should be fairly close. Hitting mid 35's low 34's in the Aston PM and I'll send a setup if you like?

Re: TORA Avon Tyres British GT Championship: Lap Times
I tested each car last night trying to make a decision. I ran a 1:41.159 (about 60L of fuel on Softs) in the Aston during my Mock race as I became more comfortable with it. The Ginetta is very capable of hitting 39's though. That car is a high downforce car and is fast as heck on the smaller tighter circuits. I think the Aston might be capable of 39's although I doubt I'll ever see that without a "trick" setup.SorrySmithy wrote:mid/high 37's for the Ginetta and high 39's for the Aston. there's no trick needed in tune setups, i can run a 39 in the aston with a 90% stock tune with only changing sway bars and aero. as far as i know there isn't any tricks like what forza had. it just takes the skill to handle an unforgiving track like Oulton.

Trying without TCS ATM, finding it hard get used it, but a 1:33:3 is good progress i guess

Nope, still can't get into the 39's with the Aston . I made some adjustments and got my Qualifying down to 1:40.358 and running 1:41's with full fuel load. Got stomped by the AI in the Ginetta. I've dominated that track in my other GT3 league, so its not a question of knowing the track, its little undulations and where to put the wheels. I'm interested to know what way you went with the sway bars. I don't mind freeing the car up for a quick lap but I like a bit of understeer and securing the rear end during the race. I'm also using a TX wheel with FFB, so I don't have the quick movements of a controller.
Edit: Ah I just read the post about TCS. I have my settings set to Real rules assists or something..GT3 and GT4 cars have TCS built into them and are required in the British GT Series rules. I guess there are no rules in this league.. thats cool!

I set both of my roll bars all the way stiff, then took one click back off the front. Works gorgeously!

Re: TORA Avon Tyres British GT Championship: Lap Times
Sweet thanks Harmonic i'll try that!
In my other league we don't have any blazers like some of the guys here but I ran a BMW Z4 1:33.590 and could run 1:34's with 80L fuel load. It was enough to pull an 11 second gap over 31 laps. LoL Probably midpack here though.

Is it really like that that TCS is slowing you down instead of helping you?

Re: TORA Avon Tyres British GT Championship: Lap Times
I've got my Wheel slip % turned up but I can feel it bog the car down when it kicks in. I was used to running no assists on the 360 with Grid Autosport. The only useful part of the TCS is when you are on cold tires in the GT4 cars.
