Hello! (again) -- n00b questions within
Hi all,
I signed up to the site a while back with full intentions of joining a few series. The SPEC series, in particular, looked really interesting to me. However, I could never quite work out the timing to participate. I've been away for a bit, but looking to start fresh with FM6 (and maybe PCars if they can get their stuff together), but I'm finding the site completely inscrutable. There are several sticky announcements and series threads that seem out-dated, and the calendar link in the top nav (the only thing i could really understand in the first place) hasn't been updated in months.
So my question is a pretty basic one: How do I find out all the juicy deets on upcoming races and series, and how do I get involved?
Cheers,
The slow kid

I must apologise for the mess
Ok, lets take a look at this since a lot of it is in my department. I've been away and busy for a little while too.
The calendar is rarely used by anyone, I don't think I've heard of many people reference it and it's a pain to continuously update it, when in some instances new championships pop up or are cancelled all over the place, and sometimes the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry (read: Project CARS is buggy). It may be time to remove the calendar perhaps.
In terms of old threads etc, I've archived some old championships from the index. Note that "Spec" sections are mainstays on each platform. The current running pitlane championships are: British GT, V8 Supercarsm TASCAR ARCA and Modern Trans Am, with NAFFCAR in the TCR section.
I would ignore the info on the main website for a while; a new, more concise site is being built, and as such our current one has been a bit... neglected
Anyway to get dem juicy deets, all you have to do is click on the series forum section you're interested in joining and take a look at the 'Rules & Regs' and 'Calendar' threads in the relevant series' section. Then you use the registration thread to sign up
Expect things to pick up a bit more when FM6 comes around!

Excellent! Thanks for the quick response. Looking forward to finally jumping in.
btw, I didn't mean to make it sound like things are a broken mess or anything. It certainly seems to work for the already-initiated. I just showed up looking for "what kind of car should I build if I want to race this weekend?" type of info, and didn't find exactly what I expected.

A quick FYI about FM6:
Expect a whole slew of casual race nights upon release. We're planning loads of spec/default tune type evenings to test out all the game has to offer, and as far as I know, these will be open to all TORA members.
So, starting "early download release", expect to see lots of activity on FM6.

^ If we let history repeat itself, we're all doomed.

Yeah I think that there's going to be a slight hiatus in TORA activity for a week or so when FM6 comes out so that everyone can play with it, test it, get used to it and formulate plots, plans and schemes to make multitudes of series on it. After said time, the site should (hopefully) explode with activity and it'll all start up again. Stay tuned and watch this space...

^ Official series? Yes, a break of sorts.
Activity? Quite a bit, as we have "fun" lobbies planned to fully explore all that FM6 has to offer. Expect lots of stuff to try out around here, and lots of fun to be had doing so.
