Re: VTCC Friday Night Spec - The Resurrection
The fourth round of the VTCC Spec Season Three saw just the eight drivers in attendance, although passes had been granted, XB6 Broomzke overslept, but being 4am local time for him, thats fine. ENS Cerebrus, the three headed ninja squirrel had the family around so had escaped the house to gather nuts for the cold winter and another active member went to watch the wrestling, i wont say who just yet, i think a small game of blackmail can be played first on that score.
But for those of us in attendance, Le Mans Bugatti Circuit, the one where hitting a kerb causes things to vibrate dramatically or in the case of myself at the beginning of race two, finding a surprise in the shape of an IED which turned the car a sharp left into the gravel once it landed.
ATP Ginge had been pretty dominant in the series so far, and again secured a double podium effort, this time around though, just a couple of third place finishes, losing out to OcR Ceasar and AgileAdam who will readily admit, hates the car, but he was quick in France.
The battle for the wooden spoon raged all night long, NBRed5, Daytona Dreams and ENS Cornholio all on a very similar pace, with the last placed on the road being swapped and defended in what was a superb battle. To be honest, apart from ATP Fenboy who was trapped in a gap in fifth place, the opening race was a scrap all the way through the field.
The second race of the night saw fuel playing a big part in the will it, wont it make the distance, ATP Fenboy took an early pitstop looking to take advantage of the clean air, Daytona Dreams also taking a pit stop around the half way point, although it took two attempts to get around the tight right (yes ok, i hit the tyres, completely missing the gap)
While the drivers at the front of the pack danced with the fuel devil, all making home on fumes, NBRed5 wasnt as lucky as his #50 car ran out of fumes, thankfully a sporting push around to the start finish line saw everyone making it back, to finish off two cracking races for the evening.
Next up, Brands Hatch GP next Friday 5th February and theres still time to fine yourself on the grid, check out the VTCC Forum which has everything you need to know about our Friday night's.
One last thing, the stewards are looking into the #68 car, wondering if he wasnt using the traditional gasoline, but pretty blue and pink flowers instead. I think the picture above tell me everything and if you could do me a dozen red roses for a few weeks time, it would be much appreciated!!
Re: VTCC Friday Night Spec - The Resurrection
Week Five and the penultimate week for the Alpine Renault's and it was a trip to the UK and the Brands Hatch full Grand Prix Circuit, the practice had been long and hard this week for the teams on the first visit to the Kent track for many of the drivers, rumour has it ATP Ginge spent at least twenty minutes practice this week and AgileAdam was busy concentrating on painting his Ferrari F40 for the start of season four in a fortnight's time.
ATP Fenboy and OcR Ceasar were close in the qualifying session, but the current champion saw ATP Ginge taking pole position again.
Race One was an absolute humdinger of a battle between the fastest three in qualifying, the lead swapping on many occasions as the slightest of mistakes and the sandtraps were awaiting for their next victim. It was OcR Ceasar who came out on top of the nine lap flyer, with ATP Ginge and ATP Fenboy filling the rest of the podium, just two seconds seperating the three.
AgileAdam was again flying this week, unfortunately the kerbs just biting back on a couple of occasions, including this effort on the opening lap where somehow everyone missed him spinning across the track.
Further back and ENS Cerberus and XB6 Broomske were matching lap after lap, both grabbing top five finishes, with a recovered and flying AgileAdam in sixth, NBRed5, seventh, with Daytona Dreams and ENS Cornholio having a great battle, seeing who could drive into the sandtraps the most.
The feature race, the reverse grid and Daytona Dreams nearly made it a half lap before falling into a sand trap and allowing the field passed him with ease. Both ATP Fenboy and AgileAdam collecting damage forcing an earlier than planned pit stop.
The race for the second week in a row was right on the limitations of the fuel, ATP Ginge, OcR Ceaser and Daytona Dreams all running in fuel saving mode and all three just making it home, with ATP Ginge taking the chequered flag.
XB6 Broomzke had his 4am start ruined lagging out of the race lobby, but remaining in party chat which was a bit of a strange one for the Aussie Allied Forces man. ENS Cornholio was having a nightmare race, Daytona Dreams finding that fuel saving actually kept him on the black surface more than he had for the rest of the night, with NBRed 5 taking no chances having run out last week at Le Mans having a solid evening with a couple of seventh place finishes.
After last week's Flower Power scandal, the stewards are yet again looking at the #68 car, this week attempting to save wear on his tyres by riding around on two wheels, yet again the evidence is looking against him even if the result of two wheels is usually waking up in the sand trap all confused and bewildered at Turn One.
The stewards have also awarded the #16 car a special prize for the best sandcastle during the racing, mind with the amount of time spent in the kitty litter this week, he had plenty of time to build enough!!

Re: VTCC Friday Night Spec - The Resurrection
With the final round of the Alpine Renaults this Friday 12th February, the time has come to reveal Season Four, its the Ferrari F40 making a five week stop in the USA, full details as always on the VTCC Forum
Rules & Regulations
The last series was of cause the Alpine Renault A110, which was a challenge to get to it being a comfortable drive, so the thoughts of an R Class car in the very next series must have you scratching your head in bewilderment. But this Ferrari F40 stick to the road like glue with the amount of downforce, there is front aero but the rear aero is stock. This thing is fast, but very drivable even in stock tune form.
We are slightly different to the regular and bigger sites, we are looking for a fun night of enjoyable racing. If you main goal in racing is winning at all costs, this site may not be suited to yourself fully. We are also a NO RESTARTS sites, unless under very rare circumstances of a massive lagbomb destroying someones car before the start. Crashes happen in motorsport, in every form, its not nice when it happens, but your misfortune is another man's advantage and with the repairing of the cars in the pits these days, its not a race ending issue. Of course all issues will be looked at and if found a driver deliberately being an arse on the start of races, there time at the VTCC will be a short one, accidents happen to everyone, we just make an apology and get on with it, as theres point to battle for further back and with our scoring, every point counts.
Qualifying
For this series, we are trying something slightly different, the opening round at Road America will be the normal five flying laps, but for the rest of the rounds there wont be any qualifying, Why? well the Race One section will explain all.
Qualifying will be starting at 20:10 UK Time, invites will be sent out from 20:00 so a quick response would be appreciated. Qualifying will be over five laps, and as always, clean laps count above dirty laps, so no pressure then on the new configurations. The lobby will be set to 7 laps. Lap 1 will be your outlap, Laps 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 your flying qualifying laps and after completion of Lap 6, if you could pull over at Turn One so the lobby host can gather the times.
The Races
There will be two races per round, the first race at Road America will be set on qualifying times like usual, but for the remainder of the series, the order of Race One will be the reverse order of the current league standings, like a grading system really, the faster guys and gals will be starting from the back, the lower point scorers starting at the front.
If you havent raced in a round before and dont feature in the league table, you will be starting at the back of the grid. These will be a single file start and being a sprint race, the faster guys will have there work getting to the front in a short space of time.
In a similar way to the starts in NASCAR and the restarts in IndyCar, there will be two designated points in the race day thread, the man in pole position can start anywhere between these two points and DOES NOT have to announce to the rest of the field when to go, theres no Green Green Green, 321 Go, the start is solely on the man in pole position. The rolling lap speed will be 50mph / 80kmh.
Race Two will be the usual top ten reverse grid, thus meaning the driver that finished tenth in race one will be in pole position for race two. If you lagout of race one, you will have to start at the back of the grid in Race Two.
The start for Race Two will also be a 50mph rolling start, the difference this time being single file, again the man in pole position is in charge of the start, he can go at any point between the designated point given in the race day thread. There is NO OVERTAKING before the start finish line, if the single file line stacks up from eager beavers you can pull out of line to avoid a collision, but must not pass before the start finish line.
Theres NO RESTARTS in any VTCC Events, unless in an extreme circumstance of a huge lagbomb. The restart rule on many sites have become a bit of a joke, the call is usually placed on a lobby host that may not see an incident, so we have a simple No Restart policy. In the real world of motorsports, accidents at the start of races, happen, its not nice if your the innocent victim, but it happens. With the cars being repairable in the pits and the points for places counting, every position may matter in a title challenge, so bite the bullet, get fixed up and aim to make a few position back up. Luck is a two way thing and your downfall may be a welcome positive for someone else, its swings and roundabouts as the saying goes.
We will however come down hard on any revenge tactics or bad sportsmanship, these events are aimed as some light hearted racing to enjoy for an evening, we dont mind banter during a race, endless conversations, no but a good rival exchange during a battle on the track, yes. If your mind set is i must win everything, this is probably not the right site for you. Points Dont Make Prizes Here!!

Re: VTCC Friday Night Spec - The Resurrection
Unfortunately this weeks report doesnt contain many words due to a hectic weekend with pretty much zero free time to enjoy it, some may call it a lack of commitment, i personally call it being busy.
The 24 laps of SpaFrancorchamps, it went rather well, the wee Alpine Renault was very much at home on the straight flat bits, although flying through Eau Rouge it felt like death was waiting to strike. ATP Ginge popped another trophy in the cabinet with a dominant win, third title in a row, will he make number four in the ferrari F40, i guess that depends on how quickly he discovers his F40 is actually a Toyota MR2 with an F40 kit on it.
Re: VTCC Friday Night Spec - The Resurrection
Bored on Friday Evenings in the EU? Do you have an attraction to Italian machinery, how about a series in the greatest car built in the 20th Century, well on the VTCC We will be doing just that with the five week series kicking off this \Friday 19th February at Road America.
Full details on the VTCC Forum
Re: VTCC Friday Night Spec - The Resurrection
We are lucky at the VTCC to have regular Twitchers racing in JBBTHEFOX, myself Daytona Dreams when i remember and ATP Fenboy, we also have a three headed squirrel that does ninja and makes the odd video every so often.
On Friday in the opening round of the Ferrari F40, ENS Cerebrus had a rather entertaining race with TORA regular XB6 Broomzke, who lives in the future as it was Saturday morning in his world and he has released this four minute clip
Re: VTCC Friday Night Spec - The Resurrection
Week two of the Ferrari F40's and the magnifence of Watkins Glen International faced the ten drivers in the pit area. The debut of an alternative method for the line up for race one, taking the current table and reversing it, making the current leaders to work extra hard in the Sprint Race.
Unfortunately two of the top three were missing this week, Speed Dem0n 64 having a prior commitment to the Formula E Championship on his home site of TORA and ATP Ginge putting a weekend in Amsterdam above racing on a Friday evening, which meant his fellow ATP member, ATP Fenboy being lonely at the back sporting a beautiful green number this week.
The green metallic paint though proving to be a hit with the tyre barrier, as the bus stop played its evil hand, dragging the #833 machine into the tyre wall at the start of race two, which caused significant damage and a wooden spoon in race two
He wasnt the only victim at the now famous chicane, race one saw NBRed5 and Daytona Dreams somehow making through side by side as they seemed to be in a battle with each other for the majority of the evening, OcR Ceaser and XB6 Broomzke were less fortunate in race one, OcR Ceaser ending in the tyre wall nose first and XB6 Broomzke showing some rather impressive drifting skills but dropping a good few positions.
With the faster guys all catching the wrong end of the deal in Race One, it provided Mikebrfc the springboard to take his maiden victory with a solid performance in taking the chequered flag in the Sprint Race with JBBTHEFOX taking second and Daytona Dreams a surprise third in thanks mainly, to a) ENS Cornholio throwing away his position and b) NBRed5 doing exactly the same thing on the final lap of the race.
Race two as mentioned already, saw a few of the faster guys nearer the front than usual after disappointing open races, OcR Ceaser making the very best of this situation in taking a solid win, with XB6 Broomzke also on the no stop strategy, looking after the tyres and saving a touch in the fuel department, with AgileAdam having a far better second race to grab the last podium spot.
Race one winner Mikebrfc needed an emergency pitstop with major engine damage, with Daytona Dreams doing exactly the same at the halfway point. But the fresher tyres were making a huge difference for those that chose to pit, seeing NBRed5 and Daytona Dreams swapping places a couple of times in the final couple of laps in a battle for sixth place. ATP Fenboy has already erased his race two by changing the colour of his car, ATP Ginge maybe in Amsterdam, but his all seeing eye voodoo doll was making sure that the green paint turned into a curse.
Points wise OcR Ceaser has taken over at the top of the table, with JBBTHEFOX in second, the rest of the top ten covered by just 15 points.
Next up is Road Atlanta next Friday, the 4th March, if you are interested in the series and are free on a Friday Evening in the EU Timezone, check out the full details on the VTCC Forum
Re: VTCC Friday Night Spec - The Resurrection
I may have to get a tune from THE FOX for next week. Had anyone told me Watkins Glen, I'd have fought my hangover and done it, but Road atlanta is a favorite track of mine, even if I have no idea about the car.
Re: VTCC Friday Night Spec - The Resurrection
A couple of videos from Watkins Glen, JBBTHEFOX has posted his Twitch recording onto YouTube and our three headed squirrel in ENS Cerebrus has pop together the moments that things didnt quite go to plan, the good news for me, im not starring for once.
Re: VTCC Friday Night Spec - The Resurrection
Week four saw the teams at the World Center Of Racing, Daytona International and the 24 hour Sportscar Course, in the dark. Just the eight cars this week, both the ENS guys were busy gathering nuts, while NBRed5 ws making sure his stayed in the correct position, instead of racing, enjoying his wedding anniversary with the better half.
A tough week amongst some of the runners this week, AgileAdam grabbed a win in race two, putting the misery of Race One behind him in style. Speed Dem0n 64 took another chequered flag in Race One of the evening, but was dealt a bad hand in race two, lagging out, while OcR Ceaser, ATP Ginge and ATP Fenboy all solid again in both races.
Heres a few pictures from the evening, unfortunately time isnt my friend at the moment so the report and pictures are low in numbers and words, but hey, at least the replays saved this week.
Next up is the finale to Season Four next Friday, the 18th March, and Sebring International, Speed Dem0n 64 may look to have the title in his grasp, but with the TORA Formula E Championship on TORA next Friday in Long Beach, he may not be in attendance. Which leaves four drivers within six points of each other, will ATP Ginge make it another title on his CV, or will OcR Ceaser, ATP Fenboy or AgileAdam grab the honours instead, If you are interested in the series and are free on a Friday Evening in the EU Timezone, check out the full details on the VTCC Forum
We shall also have full details for Season Five next Friday as well, at the moment, all we know is its called That 70's Show.
Re: VTCC Friday Night Spec - The Resurrection
Rules & Regulations
The last series was the best car made in the 80's ............. Fact!! For this series though we are going even further back down memory lane to the 1970's, the Tartan flares have been dug out from the back of the wardrobe and ATP Fenboy has gone on strike for the entire campaign due to working conditions, the change of biscuits in the canteen was too much for the man. Its fairly safe to say that none of these cars will match the Ferrari on performance, but if like myself, a child of the 70's, many were just as good looking.
Qualifying
Qualifying will be starting at 20:10 UK Time, invites will be sent out from 20:00 so a quick response would be appreciated. For this series, we are back to the usual method of qualifying, we just arent giving you much time to log that perfect lap, it will be the Super Pole Qualifying, thats one flying lap and thats your lot. Your first lap must be dirtied and after completion of Lap 2, if you could pull over at Turn One so the lobby host can gather the times.
The Races
There will be three races per round, well for the first six rounds that is. Race One will be set on qualifying times, the fastest time in qualifying will be on pole position.
Race Two's grid will be set on the finishing positions of Race One, the winner of Race One being on Pole for Race Two.
Race Three's grid will be a full reverse grid of the results of Race Two.
All three races will be a standing start, the parade lap will give everyone the chance to get into the positions they need to be in. This will be announced by the lobby host once on the grid. For the tracks that dont have grid boxes, a gap of 30 feet will be required in a staggered formation. Once ready, a time will be selected by the lobby host on the big clock in the top right hand corner of the screen and that will be repeated by others in the lobby in case of the communication issues with Forza Motorsports 6.
For round seven details, they will be announced in the raceday thread in the week leading up to the race.
Theres NO RESTARTS in any VTCC Events, unless in an extreme circumstance of a huge lagbomb. The restart rule on many sites have become a bit of a joke, the call is usually placed on a lobby host that may not see an incident, so we have a simple No Restart policy. Re: VTCC Friday Night Spec - The Resurrection
The opening round of Season Five saw a bumper field of 15 for the action at Brands Hatch, with drivers from Australia, UK, USA and Hawaii, it was certainly a test for the Forza game servers. Unfortunately, the opening two replays didnt save for anyone, but thankfully all good in Race Three and being opening night and due to magnificent paints on offer, a bumper bundle of Photos this week.
The three race format and the standing starts on debut for this series and overall, it went well, although weather Brands Hatch GP Circuit was the right venue, im not sure personally, but thats more due to the fact that im absolutely terrible on that particular track as the large quantity of sand castles i built while driving the Opel Kadett Dakar version.
Good times at the start of race three though, i led a lap thanks to the full reverse grid, although yet another dramatic off track excursion soon had me at the back again.
Next week sees the teams in Long Beach for three races around the East Circuit, so at least i shall know where im going and the sand is well away from the circuit, although the concrete walls may not quite be the answer im looking for.
Re: VTCC Friday Night Spec - The Resurrection
Round Two saw the teams and drivers in Long Beach, for three races around the East Circuit. Not a sand trap in sight this week of course, they were replaced by a concrete walls and tyre barriers. A tough night for many, although for myself, apart from the vertical start at the beginning of Race One
thanks to the lag adventures of XB6 Broomzke, where no damage was involved, but the cockpit view was certainly a very different start to a race.
I will admit, i love the ruthlessness of Long Beach and the Opel Kadett was flying around here, it was like rolling back the years for myself having qualified seventh of the sixteen driver that qualified and two top ten finishes which are pretty rare these days for myself.
PLOW tubbi took two wins and a 17th on the night, race two being taken by mikebrfc, who is the current points leader after round two with Speed Dem0n 64 just four points behind. But i shall stop talking and overdose you now in the picture department, or as the real truth, im very busy today and away tomorrow so pictures all done and dusted by the end of the Xfinity Series race in Texas last night.
A special mention to Flyin Mikey J who ran the #18 this week in memory of co-founder Dewey Tee who lost his battle with cancer earlier this week. Not just the Allied Forces carrying the memorial decal, but many of the TORA regular drivers which was very good to see.
Re: VTCC Friday Night Spec - The Resurrection
Round Three of That 70's Show saw 14 cars making the journey to Georgia for three races around the Road Atlanta Club Circuit. Overtaking opportunites again at a premium this week, but a step offline and it opens up the chance to make hay. The Mazda RX3 was working well this week, seemingly having those extra legs up the long right hander hill creating the chances to overtake at the tight chicane.
On a personal level, a tough night due to excessive lag thanks to my eight year old son secretly watching Netflix instead of sleeping, a lag spike meaning race one was a last place finish two laps down in a car that looked like it had been caught up in a tornado.
Races two and three were much better, mainly as nobody dare go within fifty feet of me due to the connection issues i was having, race three in particular was a real humdinger of a race for the front nine cars.
We also welcomed ENS Cornholio back this week from a well earned vacation and another fantastic paint, the collection for this series has been outstanding. XB6 Broomzke was in the Holden HRT colours this week, while ENS Cerberus had been on a Skyline replica front with an interesting combination of sponsorship from BP and Zippo Lighters, things that make you go boom!!
Heres a selection of shots from the evening, the full collection can be found on the VTCC Facebook Page.
Re: VTCC Friday Night Spec - The Resurrection
The Lagbomb, a part of Online Racing which happens to everyone at some point, and in the vast majority of cases, you just have to swallow it and get on with it. Thankfully for myself, im rarely on the wrong side of a Lagbomb, well, that was the case up to this week, when i have not only been on the receiving end of a lagbomb destroying my car and making me a roadblock taking out other drivers as well once, but two nights in a row, from the same guy in JBBTHEFOX.
Now last night's was just a trial race for the Touring Car Masters on TORA, in which it destroyed my car as well as the innocent party in Flyin Mikey J. Tonight's opening race, looking all clear on the inside line for the chicane and bang, im facing the wrong direction with a full field of cars looking directly at me in their path. It didnt end well and a 13th place finish of the fourteen runners.
Race two went better, a flyer off the start line and running seventh for most of the race, unfortunately past by the quicker ATP Ginge on the last lap followed by an error on my part saw another two places dropped but 10th place finish and the reverse grid and i was feeling like my night was turning around for the better .......................
................ oh how wrong i was!!
The start of race three from fifth on the grid, the time was hit and accelerator flat to the floor and nothing, the Kadett moved about three foot forward and was collected by the entire odds side of the remaining runners, leaving a car only capable of running 81 second laps and a fourteenth and final spot on the grid.
I've never liked Silverstone, tonight the luck didnt even like me!!
