Round 2: Silverstone
A very different challenge to the Glen should see the strengths of other cars come to the fore.
Goes without saying track limits will be a factor so please be respectful of each other and of the ethos of this series.
I look forward to welcoming you to the home of British Motorsport...in the sun!

Makes sense, because you usually get it around 15 minutes before the event starts. And it's currently 19:24GMT.

I think you got something wrong here
The Event is supposed to start at 20:00GMT. So the invites will go out any minute now.

Re: Round 2: Silverstone
There does need to be a little less first lap heroics guys. Both races in A lobby had issues with some over exuberant driving on the opening laps.
A little more care is required. Appreciate some of these cars are a bit of a handful at times but give yourself space so that if you get tail out you're less likely to take other people with you.
The starts weren't the best either. I don't know if the leader couldn't hear us asking what side pole would be on but perhaps we will nominate that in the lobby BEFORE we start at least until Party Chat is expanded and we can all fit in. Which ought to be soon by the sounds of it. Other than that, good racing. Had some epic side by side bits with Roscoe and Ianmr (back to the old TCC days eh?) and the rest of the race was fairly controlled with a car that understeered a little too much in places and had too much wing. Still, the learning curve is good and I'm enjoying the car...even if my neighbours aren't

Yeah, Matt. The idea with nominating side pole before race is a good idea.
As we can see, there lots of people from different countries, so, not all of them can understand what are you trying to ask them.

Re: Round 2: Silverstone
I had some nice racing yesterday.
But one thing:
When leaving the pits please stay away from the racing line at first.
Doesn't matter if you're first place, last or something in between. The driver coming from the pits has to look out. It's like in normal traffic. When you want to leave a driveway you usually take a look around before going on the street, too.
I know that I'm not the best and that I didn't lose much through this collision (maybe one position better). But this doesn't mean that my race is less worth than the one of somebody in the top 5 and this accident could've ended much worse for both sides. It was even bigger luck for me that I didn't receive any damage from crashing into the barriers with about 80 to 100 Miles still on the clock.
So please do me the favor and be a little bit more careful next time, alright? The same goes for "first lap optimists". In real racing this could lead to a drive through penalty (causing a collision) or even worse if done repeatedly. And I will do everything that something similar will be given out here if this happens again.
Until then, see you at Hockenheim

Re: Round 2: Silverstone
I second Desert and Johns statments, John i am sorry for hitting you i braked but a little too late and couldnt get it stopped in time .
Also i am not a fan off those starting out of postion and then the lobby CONTINUEING ignoring the host (ME) asking to abort
One person was out of postion massivley on the second race, he knows who he is.
Other than that was an ok race pissed that i made a heroic charge only for the pit lane and controller to [Censored] me

Sorry mate, you're absolutely right!
I didn't see you, clearly 'cause I didn't care enough when I get back on track focused only on my race.
My fault and sorry again.

Re: Round 2: Silverstone
The funny bit being that as I mentioned above I had cigarette paper close racing with Ian and Roscoe on more than one occasion and we just didn't make contact, gave each other racing room and all was good (ok, marshals at Maggots might think differently on one occasion!)
That's how it's meant to be. Nothing wrong with close racing just use a little intelligence and common sense with your moves and remember these races are never, ever won in the first laps.
As with the starts, I'll make an amendment this week to the rules confirming that the pole side will be nominated BEFORE the race starts while everyone is still in lobby.

It's alright, buddy
As I already wrote, we were both quite lucky there. Just wanted to make the others also aware of that. The races are long enough to win it over the distance and not in the first or second corner where everybody has still not completely warmed up their tires (even with the parade lap before).
I forgot to mention, the start procedures where also far away from perfect. Some couldn't find their position and wandered around in the grid until they finally found it within the last few corners before start finish. Others kept way too much distance to the others just to accelerate through and warm up their tires while leaving the others behind in his dust and letting them have issues to catch up.
My suggestion: Do a one lap race before the actual race on the shortest version of the current track (e.g. Hockenheim Short, Silverstone National) to sort out the starting positions and have a solid warm up lap with everybody already in position. Maybe even add a roll off delay so everyone has enough space during their warm up. Then meet up right before the last sector of the track and drive with a regulated speed towards the start/finish straight. To make sure everyone is there, the driver starting in last position shouts out that he's ready and the actual race can begin.
If somebody leaves unexpectedly during the grid formation race (lagout, too heavy damage to finish, etc) or before the start of the race, he can still regain his position in the warm up lap.
And this strategy is not brand new. It was almost the standard in Forza 4 and I don't know what happened that it hasn't been used anymore.
