Re: Round 2: Silverstone
I think because you can't order the grid on last race result anymore. From what I remember (away from my Xbox) it's PI and random only. So we've kind of been forced into this system really. Hopefully additional settings will be in for the next title. Certainly it's something we raised quite early on with T10.
Re: Round 2: Silverstone
The start procedure just doesn't work at all with the current state of game chat. In race 2 i was asking if the back was ready with no reply while going down the start finish straight, i just ended up calling it, and half the field probably only heard it anyway. It was exactly the same when a safety car was called...
I suggest we start/restart these races like you would in a real world F1 race, having already gone with rolling starts. Let the guy at the front help bunch everyone up, single file and approaching the last set of corners he can choose when to go before the start finish line. You know you should go when the guy in front starts accelerating. These are pretty long races with 2 pit stops, single file starts like this are surely the way to go, as we don't have the luxury of standing around listening to the race timer getting called repeatedly. It would also improve first lap/corner madness.

Clearly it's unlikely in this case, or you probably wouldn't be posting about it. But most of your own benedict guys are prone to all the above. Watch the replay of the first round of the spec cup (the one where your team came together, I got written off - and it was nearly all due to your team-mate going off and then not even ATTEMPTING to rejoin safely, he just charged right accross the track on "rejoining" collecting several cars on his way. And you yourself are very prone to the old "I can fit in that (non existent) gap, it's not like the guy is going to turn into that corner" corner charge
There are many many of the "etiquette" and other rules and regs that people generally simply ignore - track limits chief among them for some people

Hopefully the situation improves when the larger party chats come in. As I suggested, we will get the pole sitter to nominate a grid side before we start racing. That's the natural thing to do in the lobby before anything else. We can then confirm ahead of time that everyone knows. If that doesn't work then yes, we'll just go single file for the rest of the season but let's try this first
Always fun to work around a broken system outside of our control isn't it!!
Just to reiterate (as you reminded me there!) when we do SC restarts it's SINGLE FILE you don't have to form up again.

Re: Round 2: Silverstone
matt u do know larger partys are available...however it is only 16 people so maybe smaller lobbys of 16 is the way to go..also if there is not enough hosts to host the sesions prehaps a cap on entrys might be worth thinking about.Matt wrote:Amarth wrote:The start procedure just doesn't work at all with the current state of game chat. Matt wrote:The funny bit being that as I mentioned above I had cigarette paper close racing with Ian and Roscoe on more than one occasion and we just didn't make contact, gave each other racing room and all was good (ok, marshals at Maggots might think differently on one occasion!)
That's how it's meant to be. Nothing wrong with close racing just use a little intelligence and common sense with your moves and remember these races are never, ever won in the first laps.
As with the starts, I'll make an amendment this week to the rules confirming that the pole side will be nominated BEFORE the race starts while everyone is still in lobby.
Had great fun racing on Sunday Matt, watched the reply back from race one and there really was only a Rizla paper between us side by side through Vale & Club. All in all I enjoyed the racing (aside from a strange incident during the safety car in race 2). Well done the TORA team for taking the time out to organize.
In terms of the Start, for round one we did a standing start in B lobby after a formation lap, worked rather well, not sure it's worth going back to that?

Re: Round 2: Silverstone
To be honest the problem with the starts was the size of the gap in the pack the front runners need to back the pack up the bmw has to do some big fuel saving on parade lap if the group was together the issues would never off happened.
But i had 2 awesome races between me and adamwatson99 really enjoyed it
