Re: American Iron 2018 Cars and Builds
You just have to experiment with cars and builds.
Quite a few cars have decent handling with right around 500 HP and 2800 lbs

I am that guy that will do exactly this.. min weight, big tires... the driving it effectively part though...... HAHAHA

It doesn't matter how out of balance the car is on paper - you ALWAYS want to add rear tires if you're able to. My builds from previous seasons had max power, min weight, no front tires, max rears, and they were faster than any other combination of parts. The same goes for any leaderboard build. Rear grip is king in the game, and it will ALWAYS result in faster lap times. Whether you can drive it effectively or not is a different story. Also, your tires are less prone to spin if they're wider...
How are you getting both max power and minimum weight? I can't seem to get a car to 500 HP under the rules without making it a lead sled. lol

Haha. I'm the dude whose gonna try to do that. Been messing with builds and I can't seem to get the car to 2800 lbs and 500 HP and max width rear tires without driving my PI up into the 720s. I have determined either I have no clue what I'm doing (most likely) or Harmonic and Diablo are using some foul sorcery. lol

69 firebird maxed out 500hp, 2800lb and full handling upgrades. Most builds will run the 6.2 swap. Avoid cams, clutch, flywheel and uses street trans.

Word. I think it was just the car I was trying to use. Tried those things on a '79 camaro and couldn't make it happen. I had to search for ways to add weight to the firebird. Thanks for the tip.

Is there a 2016 Camaro Super Sport? I can only find the 2012 ZL1 and 2017 ZL1

It's a reward car of some sort. I think it was for a Rivals event but I'm not 100% sure.

So no exposed engine parts, but am I allowed to have a big-ass scoop?

Yes you may.
Re: American Iron 2018 Cars and Builds
Just double checking here - 1964 mustang is not on the approved list, but as long as it's under 500hp, and over 2800, we're good, right?

The reason it was off the list is it was impossible to hit 675PI, 500HP and 2800 Lbs at the same time. How far off 675 is your build?
Re: American Iron 2018 Cars and Builds
The best build I could make with the '65 Mustang was 662 PI, and I'm not sure it would fit in a lobby - it's exactly 500 HP and 2800 lbs.

Re: American Iron 2018 Cars and Builds
Mine was 662 or 664, but 499hp and 2804 lbs. Doesn't hit that 675PI, but the rules state that I can self penalize.

Re: American Iron 2018 Cars and Builds
I guess you can. I'll add the car, but be warned that it may not be very competitive in a very competitive field.
Re: American Iron 2018 Cars and Builds
Be warned, i won't be competitive in this series regardless, so I'm very content with however I do in the lowest lobby
For real though, thanks for the help!
