BTCC have created their own formula before a while back, rememeber? Oh, yeah, it was Supertouring wasn't it!
Basicaly, more power, cheaper cars with a spec engine available to privateer teams..
hmm, havnt read it all yet though.

Re: BTCC 2011: Bigger cars, Faster cars
Upon reading again we are basicaly going to see:
Faster cars
Faster looking Cars (mandatory width and larger minimmum legnth to ecourage 3 box cars rather that 2 box hatchbacks)
2 Litre turbos (much better that the FIA's propoed Supe 1600 Turbo formula)
Less restriction on which engine you can use, so you can use any engine from your current range of cars

Re: BTCC 2011: Bigger cars, Faster cars
the cost saving aspects are good and something that TOCA has been committed to since the inception of the BTC rules.
Standard parts have been about for a few years anyway, but its looking like its going on to another level to save costs.
All good stuff if you ask me.

Apart from there will be no BMW and Seat TDI's allowed in assuming that Seat actually wanted another crack at the BTCC in the TDI's.

i take it ur refering to the god ol' days back in the 90's. If so its alll goood!
Re: BTCC 2011: Bigger cars, Faster cars
There still could be BMW's in S2000 spec till 2013 with the parity rules TOCA are setting up.
After that it'll be up to BMW whether they support the WTCC regs or not.
SEAT? Good point, but they too have a car that can fit albeit an A4 in SEAT clothing.
Ford? Focus
Pug? 408/9
Honda Accord
Volvo S60 or whatever their peddling then.
Audi S4
etc etc etc
There are plenty of options for manufacturers and if cheap enough, why wouldn't you?

Re: BTCC 2011: Bigger cars, Faster cars
I'd think we would see the Mondeo to be honest. And im definetaly expecting an Insignia now. Or, with the lax engine rules, could we see a VXR8 with a 2 ltr engine?

Re: BTCC 2011: Bigger cars, Faster cars
well if we see the mondeo i will be a very happy man, i cant see why it hasnt been done yet.
Re: BTCC 2011: Bigger cars, Faster cars
Its probably too big to be competitive in S2000, and Volvo already have a works team in Sweden, so some of Fords money is going towards that i guess.
