TORA Endurance Championship Round 5: 8 Hours of Sebring

Welcome to the 2018 TORA 12 Hours of Sebring!  Sebring is one of the most famous tracks in North America.  Endurance races have been taking place at Sebring since 1952.  The track was famously built on part of a WW2 air training base, with large sections of the track being formed from the concrete runway.  The original idea was thought to die with Sam Collier died during a race at Watkins Glen, however his fellow racers got the project off the ground.  The first race at Sebring was held on New Year's Eve Day 1950, with the Sam Collier Six Hours Memorial.  Needless to say the rest is history.

Qualifying - This will be the typical 1-Hour Endurance Qualifying.  Drivers will have 45 minutes to set their fastest clean lap.  We will be adding the best qualifying results from each team, so remember that more than one driver has to take part in qualifying.  To sign up for qualifying, please use THE QUALIFYING THREAD.  Remember that drivers should be/appear online 15 minutes prior to qualifying start, and should keep in-lobby chat to a minimal.  Be sure to read the updated qualifying rules!

Race - This is a 8-hour Endurance race.  Drivers will be competing in 4 stints of two hours each.  However, drivers are reminded that the race actually only lasts 1 hour and 40 minutes. Drivers are reminded that they are to use THE STINT THREAD to assign stints to each of their drivers.  Drivers are expected to be familiar with the rules and regulations come race time, so please review them before September 8th.

Pit Stops - GT cars are required to make at least 2 pit stops each stint.

Stint Starting Procedures - Stint 1 will start with a typical 80 mph 2x2 Rolling Start.  Stint 2 through 4 will be a single file start,  starting as cars cross under the Chevrolet bridge as shown below.  Remember that drivers are not to accelerate to race pace until THEY pass the designated start point. (See picture below for reference.)

TEC Round 5: Sebring - Driver Briefing & General Discussion Empty Track Limits

Post by BigBen13x Tue 27 Nov 2018 - 3:26

Sebring of course is one of those tracks that we always have to discuss track limits.  However, thanks to the track limit update, this post is now much shorter!  If it is not specified, 2 wheels MUST remain on track at all times, designated by the lines on the outside of the track.  In short, if I don't list it below, don't do it!

Turn One:

  • For Turn One, drivers are allowed to use the track the whole way up to the inside wall.
  • However, drivers are reminded that they must still exit Turn One cleanly.  Two tires must remain on the left side of the white line.

Sunset Curve:

  • For Sunset, drivers are allowed to use the track the whole way up to the inside wall.
  • However, drivers are to respect track limits mid corner, and keep two tires on the right the white line.  The following is acceptable.
  • When exiting Sunset, drivers are allowed to use the track the whole way up to the outside wall.

Please note: These track limits are dirty under the track limits.  Drivers are still expected to set clean laps during qualifying, but these track limits may be used during the race.

Shortly after this was posted we spoke in a party and it's all good now.

If you get DQ from quali for an endurance event, you can still race! That was the point of confusion.
